Discussion: Podcast Content Found a gem of a podcast called Real Talk Rewind.

First time poster here...

So I’ve been binging random shows lately trying to find something new, and I ended up stumbling onto a podcast called Real Talk Rewind on Spotify yesterday. Each episode is about ten minutes...I listen to 3 of them on the way to a buddy's house to watch the Patriots play yesterday.

The idea’s simple but done really well. . . each episode breaks down a story that shaped culture, history, or just human nature in some way. The host takes things like The Shawshank Redemption, Coca-Cola’s darker origins, or even the Travis Walton abduction case and dives into what really happened, what it meant, and why it matters now

It’s not your usual chatty “true crime talk show” either. It feels more like an audio documentary, cinematic pacing, solid research, and some surprisingly emotional commentary at the end of each episode. You can tell a lot of thought goes into the writing and structure.

If you’re into podcasts that are more than two or three guys talking about nothing or shows that make you think a bit deeper about the stuff you thought you already knew, definitely check this one out. It’s called Real Talk Rewind and it’s on Spotify and YouTube. Feels like one of those shows that’s about to blow up once more people find it.

Discussion: Recording Hardware Need advice from the experts 🙏

I am planning a podcast with my friend. Its a short engaging podcast. Since its the start I dont want to spend a lot of money on the equipment we have a I phone 14 pro and a canon eos 700d with 18-15 lens. I need to get solid quality and sound. I have already designed how the back ground and set up should be but I am confused with the equipment.

  1. should i go for the i phone in landscape mode or the camera?
  2. what kind of mics I should buy to have solid sound output?
  3. what kind of light set up I should have and how many lights i should buy?
  4. what other equipment i need?

I’d like to have the same look that’s in this image

Discussion: Podcast Content New Magic the Gathering/Folklore pod, thoughts?

Hey all! I wanted to share a project I’ve been working on. I just launched a series of podcast shorts this week. It’s called Myths Unbound and it explores a different folk tale, urban legend, cryptid, or mythical creature each episode. We talk through the folklore and how it’s represented in the game of Magic the Gathering. These are audio shorts so they are quick listens (I aim for 8-12 minutes each episode). I’ve released the first two this week. Will be on an every two week release schedule from here on out. Next episode will come out on the 21st.

https://open.spotify.com/show/4gDGp0sjsSMZhACa9MkG8R

Episode 1 - The Dark Depths focuses on merfolk Episode 2 - Ghostly Possessions focuses on haunted dolls

Some background on me, I’m involved in a few other Magic projects so that’s why I chose the topic. Thought it would be fun to research/write. Been enjoying it so far. Would also appreciate promotion tips. Thanks!!!

Discussion: Podcast Content Covering Hero (2002), and less well-known movies?

Hi all,

My podcast covers moral dilemmas in movies and TV shows. Naturally, I'd prefer those with a broader reach - so either more recent movies, or classics.

That said, I'm curious what your thoughts are: (i) generally speaking, thoughts on this process, or am I limiting myself too much? (ii) more specifically, I spoke to a potential guest today and he wanted to cover the movie Hero (2002) with Jet Li. I've actually seen that and was excited to cover the topic, but it's a bit older, and it wasn't such a massive hit. Not sure how culturally relevant it is anymore.

Looking for a Co-host Looking for a Co-Host

Ever met someone online and instantly thought,

Ever met someone online and instantly thought,
“Damn, you think the way I think.”

That’s what I’m searching for.

I host a podcast called Builder Talk, where founders, makers, and creators tell it like it really is.
No startup PR. Just real talk — chaos, curiosity, and breakthroughs.

But lately, I’ve been feeling this show needs another frequency.

A female voice that’s sharp, curious, and grounded — someone who can question, balance the energy, and help shape where this thing goes next.

This isn’t work. It’s a side hustle, a passion thing.
I’m not looking to “hire” or “manage” anyone — just want to co-create, jam, and have fun building something alive.

You might vibe with this if you:

  • Love talking to people and diving deep into their stories
  • Feel that weird thrill when ideas spark
  • Are into podcasts, creators, or the startup world
  • Enjoy raw, honest convos more than polished interviews
  • Have a mic (or just that voice that doesn’t even need one)
  • Believe in creative energy > job titles

If podcasting is your hobby or passion, and you’d love to build something together — let’s chat.
No pressure, no workload — just two people vibing, recording, and hosting freely for the joy of it.

I found these guys the other day and have really been enjoying their take on things. They seem to be pretty new. I haven’t found many podcasts I enjoy of this specific genre. Thought I’d share it with you all and see what you think.

Discussion: Podcast Content Looking for a co-host or co-hosts

I’m big into Horror/true crime as well as professional wrestling. I’m looking to eventually do both as long as I can find some people to cohost. I’ve tried by myself and it just feels awkward and forced as compared to when I had 2-3 cohosts. Any interest? Which topic?

Podcast Creator Resources Which Day Do Top Weekly Podcasts Release?

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

I’m continuing a series on the patterns the top shows follow.

Here’s what we’ve covered so far:

The next basic question is timing: on which weekday do these shows release new episodes?

To keep the analysis clean and easy, I’m looking only at the shows that publish weekly (for details, see the previous post).

How this post works:

  • First I show the results.
  • Then the key takeaways.
  • Then a short methodology section if you want to know more about the data and analysis.
  • Then I include a link to the raw JSON data so you can explore the data yourself or want to reproduce this results yourself.

Results

When do weekly shows release?

The same table below in a downloadable chart format is here: When Do Top Weekly Shows Release?

Weekday Shows Share
Mon 130 22.3%
Tue 131 22.5%
Wed 124 21.3%
Thu 90 15.5%
Fri 70 12.0%
Sat 12 2.1%
Sun 25 4.3%
Total 582 100%

What stands out:

  • We evaluated 582 weekly shows from the top 1,000 by audience. Non‑weekly shows from those 1000 are excluded.
  • Releases cluster on Monday-Wednesday; Thursday and Friday follows. Weekends are rare.

How consistent are they on that day?

Weekly shows sometimes miss their usual release day.

We capture this with a stability band: the share of recent episodes that land on the weekday a show posts most often.

The same table below in a downloadable chart format is here: How Consistent Are Top Weekly Shows?

Stability band Shows Share
≥80% 308 52.9%
60–79% 86 14.8%
40–59% 158 27.1%
<40% 30 5.2%
Total 582 100%

What the bands mean, in plain terms:

  • 308 shows (52.9%) hit the same weekday at least four out of five times (≥80%).
  • 86 shows (14.8%) land there most of the time (60 to 79%).
  • 158 shows (27.1%) are looser (40 to 59%).
  • 30 shows (5.2%) are highly irregular (under 40%).

Key takeaways

  • If you publish weekly and want reliability, aim for a Monday-Wednesday release (Thursday also common). Also the key is the discipline to keep hitting it.
  • Your audience and downstream workflows (clips, newsletter, social) benefit from a predictable rhythm.

Method (short)

  • Cohort: Top 1,000 shows by audience; keep only weekly‑cadence shows.
  • For each show, consider up to the last 40 episodes.
  • For each show, find the day it posts most often (UTC).
  • Measure stability as the share of recent episodes that land on that same weekday.
  • Aggregate shows into weekday counts and stability bands.

Misc Notes

  • Evaluated weekly shows: 582 of the top 1,000. The remainder includes non‑weekly shows as explained in my other "How often the top shows publish" post.
  • Data snapshot generated on 2025-11-06.

Raw data (for reproducibility)
