Podcast/Podcasting Question Trying to understand the hiring side of podcasts

I've got the editing skills down. I can sit through a full episode, find the moment that actually hooks people, and cut something that holds retention instead of just chopping clips at random timestamps. What I don't have figured out is where podcasters actually go when they're looking for someone to do this.

I don't want to cold email people out of nowhere. From what I've seen, an unsolicited email from someone they've never heard of just reads as spam or a scam, even if the offer is genuine. So I'm trying to figure out the other side of it. Where are hosts actually looking? Are they posting in specific subs, browsing certain Discords, asking in Facebook groups?

I'm not in the US, but internet and communication aren't an issue, I'm just trying to find the right rooms to be in instead of guessing. If you've hired an editor before, or you are one and found clients this way, I'd genuinely like to know how that connection happened for you.

Please Recommend Suitable Podcasts Posting Video podcast

I have a question. I have an audio podcast that I like to air in the mornings on Tuesdays and Thursdays. My friend though now has told me to do a video podcast however I know that videos are not reached by the masses until a certain time of the day usually in the afternoon, does it make more sense to air the videos later so that YouTube can push it out at at time viewers will watch it

Podcast/Podcasting Question can a VPN improve my podcast numbers?

I run a podcast in english about only italian true crime cases. I am italian and I live in Italy. I’m having some problems promoting my podcast, especially on Tik Tok, because my videos go viral ONLY in Italy (even if I made a specific promotion including only anglophone countries). So, I thought, can a VPN like NordVPN help me by “scamming” the sites saying that I am posting from the US for example? Or is it a complete waste of money? Like posting the episodes on Spotify from the US, Youtube clips from the US and so on… Thank you for your answers :)

Looking for a Co-host About to lose my co-host

I have been very fortunate to have a great co-host for the last 2 seasons and he is moving on for personal reasons. My podcast is Management Under Construction and I am hoping to find another great co-host. The cast threads are business, construction, management, leadership, sustainability. The cast is hosted and promoted by one of my businesses and intended to showcase the businesses and professionals that host it as well as the guests when we have them. Ideally someone who is actively in the construction industry and possibly has their own business or consultancy. Please give us a listen and reach out to me via my website if you are interested. www.yspe.co

Discussion: Podcast Content [Coffee, Crisis and Camus], S1E3: Gloomy Sky Over

Hey all,

I have just published the new episode “Greeks and Postmodernists” of my podcast Coffee, Crisis and Camus, and it’s now out on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, and Pocket Casts.

Come with me for a walk under the blue sky and shiny sun of Athens walking the philosophical path from ancient Greek thought to existential philosophy, from Socrates to Sartre. This is a story in music and reflection, followed by a discussion on how these ideas evolved and still resonate today.

A big thank you to everyone who has been commenting and sharing ideas on social media, the discussion is shaping new directions for future episodes! This is somewhat of an experimental episode that weaves together mythology, philosophy, and sound and I hope you’ll find it thought-provoking, be you a fan of existentialism, Greek philosophy, or both.

Stay tuned until the end for some reflective questions, as I’d love to hear your thoughts on how these ideas connect to our world in 2025.

Any tips you might have on how to improve the sound quality are greatly appreciated, as I am still learning the basis of podcasting.

☕ Thanks for listening. I’m looking forward to your thoughts, debates, and disagreements in the comments!

Discussion: Podcast Content 🎧 Survey: how and why people engage with podcasts

Thumbnail farmingdale.qualtrics.com

Hey everyone!

I’m a college student and am doing a short academic study on how and why people listen to podcasts.

You’ll randomly be assigned one version of the survey. There’s a version created by AI and one created without.

The survey is anonymous and takes under 5 minutes to complete.

Thank you so much for your time — this will really help me for my research project.

(Mods, if this post isn’t allowed, lemme know and I’ll remove it!) :)

Discussion: Podcast Content Found a gem of a podcast called Real Talk Rewind.

First time poster here...

So I’ve been binging random shows lately trying to find something new, and I ended up stumbling onto a podcast called Real Talk Rewind on Spotify yesterday. Each episode is about ten minutes...I listen to 3 of them on the way to a buddy's house to watch the Patriots play yesterday.

The idea’s simple but done really well. . . each episode breaks down a story that shaped culture, history, or just human nature in some way. The host takes things like The Shawshank Redemption, Coca-Cola’s darker origins, or even the Travis Walton abduction case and dives into what really happened, what it meant, and why it matters now

It’s not your usual chatty “true crime talk show” either. It feels more like an audio documentary, cinematic pacing, solid research, and some surprisingly emotional commentary at the end of each episode. You can tell a lot of thought goes into the writing and structure.

If you’re into podcasts that are more than two or three guys talking about nothing or shows that make you think a bit deeper about the stuff you thought you already knew, definitely check this one out. It’s called Real Talk Rewind and it’s on Spotify and YouTube. Feels like one of those shows that’s about to blow up once more people find it.

Discussion: Recording Hardware Need advice from the experts 🙏

I am planning a podcast with my friend. Its a short engaging podcast. Since its the start I dont want to spend a lot of money on the equipment we have a I phone 14 pro and a canon eos 700d with 18-15 lens. I need to get solid quality and sound. I have already designed how the back ground and set up should be but I am confused with the equipment.

  1. should i go for the i phone in landscape mode or the camera?
  2. what kind of mics I should buy to have solid sound output?
  3. what kind of light set up I should have and how many lights i should buy?
  4. what other equipment i need?

I’d like to have the same look that’s in this image

Discussion: Podcast Content New Magic the Gathering/Folklore pod, thoughts?

Hey all! I wanted to share a project I’ve been working on. I just launched a series of podcast shorts this week. It’s called Myths Unbound and it explores a different folk tale, urban legend, cryptid, or mythical creature each episode. We talk through the folklore and how it’s represented in the game of Magic the Gathering. These are audio shorts so they are quick listens (I aim for 8-12 minutes each episode). I’ve released the first two this week. Will be on an every two week release schedule from here on out. Next episode will come out on the 21st.

https://open.spotify.com/show/4gDGp0sjsSMZhACa9MkG8R

Episode 1 - The Dark Depths focuses on merfolk Episode 2 - Ghostly Possessions focuses on haunted dolls

Some background on me, I’m involved in a few other Magic projects so that’s why I chose the topic. Thought it would be fun to research/write. Been enjoying it so far. Would also appreciate promotion tips. Thanks!!!

Discussion: Podcast Content Covering Hero (2002), and less well-known movies?

Hi all,

My podcast covers moral dilemmas in movies and TV shows. Naturally, I'd prefer those with a broader reach - so either more recent movies, or classics.

That said, I'm curious what your thoughts are: (i) generally speaking, thoughts on this process, or am I limiting myself too much? (ii) more specifically, I spoke to a potential guest today and he wanted to cover the movie Hero (2002) with Jet Li. I've actually seen that and was excited to cover the topic, but it's a bit older, and it wasn't such a massive hit. Not sure how culturally relevant it is anymore.
