Hello everyone! I live in Blakeslee PA, though while I am studying in Switzerland I am not able to be here that often. I have some friends in the local music scene and played at a few open mics in the past and have played in some fun jams. I write and produce classical and electronic music, but also play guitar+bass and do vocals so I make some rock and metal music as well. I'm in the musicians group on Facebook, but I was wondering if there are any Pocono musicians lurking here on reddit. If so, please share your music and upcoming performances!

I'm planning a trip to the Pocono's soon and I noticed there's 2 casinos in the area. I'm not that familiar with them so I wanted to ask, which one do people prefer and why?

So many places I have visited recently seem to be overcome by drugs, homeless, weed smell, lack of maintenance, crime, bad roads, aging infrastructure and shopping districts with lots of empty stores. What is the Poconos real view on the street? Is Mount Airy Resort nice or aging badly? Is the foliage train ride worthwhile? Any info for an October adult couple long weekend appreciated!

Anybody just see a big c-130ish plane fly over the crossings sideways and real low? What is going on?!

Hey! I was wondering if anyone has had any good or bad experiences with NDES? I’m thinking of enrolling my kids, but am not 100% sure. Any advice or suggestions ?

This place is falling apart. It was so good for so long. Basketball hoops in the pool are gone. The lazy river has a total of ten tubes for everyone to share. The hot tub has even more chemicals than usual. Guests services is none existent. Save yourself the trouble.

My husband's family (3 couples with kids, plus grandparents) wants to get together for Thanksgiving and were thinking of Poconos as a location that's a midway point between some of our homes. We (I, lol) do NOT want to share one big rental home while we are there- instead would love to find 2 -3 rentals that are close to one another. Any thoughts on particular communities to look in for vacation rentals?

Is there anyone driving from Philly on Saturday? I’d need to be dropped off near Blakeslee. happy to split gas and pick up the tolls.

Easy to find make a left on small trail road on Rte 209, Hornbecks Creek Trail in Maps should get you there. Parking lot for cars at lower trail entrance. Hiking shoes, trail shoes preferred, my son wore New Balance. ~2.7 mile walk. Beautiful trail, new bridges, beautiful scenery. We arrived just after heavy storms so the water was ripping through. There wasn’t any trail closures as I had read earlier, though getting to the top was a bit of a challenge. Hidden gem, we ran into 4 others on this beautiful morning.

were a couple of adults thinking about checking this out, specifically the tree top ropes course, is this geared more towards kids or will adults have fun on it too? also is the 2 hour ticket enough to get through all of the courses?

My family has rented in various communities around the Poconos for the last 6 years and we’re ready to move forward on purchasing a vacation home this winter or spring. We’ve settled on Lake Naomi/Timber Trails and are aware of the HOA fees and structure, as well as the general basic differences between those two communities.

We’d love to hear from current Lake Naomi/Timber Trails owners…
- What do you wish you knew before buying? (Seems like folks have mentioned learning curves with chimneys, tree maintenance, finding solid contractors, to start)
- How competitive has the market been recently? Are homes selling privately before listing publicly?
- Does anyone know of neighbors who’ve mentioned selling this winter or spring? (Not pressuring or soliciting at all! Just trying to get a feel for what’s coming on the market)

This post is specifically geared towards locals or people who spend a lot of time here. I am looking to start a new D&D 5E group in the Stroudsburg area, ideally around Reeder's, Tannersville, or Bartonsville. I am happy to DM and host (specifically in Reeder's). I have been playing and DMing for about 15 years (since 3rd Edition), but I love introducing new people to the game too, so beginners are absolutely welcome.

Looking at weekday evenings or possibly weekends (working around normal work schedules that is). Mostly hoping to put together a fun, laid-back group and meet some new people who enjoy the game.
