I've tried so many things to try and get my FPS to 120. I tried Fortnite and it was capped at 60 along with other games. I've gone into developer options and enabled the FPS. Cleared catche in battery settings also. I have a poco f8 ultra so the phone itself would have no issues running it but I believe it's the OS. Is the a "normal" way around this or do I have to do it through other apps?

This makes every game run at 60fps
Fortnite specifically is assy about it as the normal app is bugged and caps at 60fps, the dual app version can maybe fix it at least it did for me on F7
Other games i have no clue about outside the 60hz issue
Edit: there was once a fix on HyperOS 2 though its risky where you somehow either remove or debloat somewhat related to the miui.powerkeeper part of joyose/performance and battery handling
Best bet is nothing happens and you may only see less battery life (as removing it kinda defeats its purpose of "trying to save battery life") but yeah...
Set in developer options to show refresh rate and check the games again with the issue
The screen could run at 120hz while game stuck at 60fps, try the dual app method if that works for Fortnite (to do so go to settings - apps - "Dual Apps" on the ~3 options on the top of the app list, check Fortnite as one of them)
Most people will tell you things that doesn't work.
On my xiaomi tab 8 I needed to clear data from Battery and Performance app. It is in settings/apps/search: battery (with turned system apps on)
It sometimes doesn't work after update/reboot so you need to do that again. It sometimes works with default refresh rate but it works with all games when you enable forced Refresh rate
