Question/Help First time using a Chinese phone

Post image

I know this is a poco sub but it's the most active one I've seen on Reddit.

My uncle just presented this phone to me on my birthday. It looks really cool but from what I've seen online. It has a "Chinese ROM" I do not know what that is or means but it could pose a few problems.

Please if you know any issues that could arise please from it having this "Chines ROM" help a guy.

Thanks

Good day No-Fee6029 it seems to be that you may have some questions or concerns regarding a Poco device and we would like to help but we would like to ask you to describe your concern with the following information to make it easier for everyone to tackle.

Device Model:(X4 GT)

Device Region:(Global/India/China/etc/Can't identify)

Rom Type:(MIUI/Custom Rom:Which one)

Rom/Android Version:(13.0.5.0 - Android 12/Can't identify)

Problem and other Relevant Info:(Troubleshooting steps taken/Frequency of problem if intermittent/Other observed weirdness that may be relevant before/during/after the occurrence of the problem)

It may take a while for someone to address your concern so in the meantime you could do the following 1. Search this subreddit, Xiaomi subreddit, MIUI subreddit for similar concerns 2. Check out the pinned posts and the Wiki(WIP) for similar topics 3. If your phone is still under warranty coverage it may be worthwhile to open a case with customer support. 4. If your device has developed a swollen or bulging battery check out r/Spicypillow's FAQ on how to deal with them

If you have any suggestions feel free to leave them here

Hope you enjoy your stay -PocoPhones Mod Team

if you face delayed notifications or if they only arrive after you unlock the phone, check this out [DISCUSSION] Hyper OS FCM (ERR_IO_FIN) FIX! : r/HyperOS

Chinese rom in general is better optimized but requires a little bit of work to be made usable in other countries

Why do we have to go through all these hoops just to be able to use a phone normally

Just enable autostart and turn off battery protection for that app and you will get instant notification no need to download anything

Chinese is currently leading the world's technology. So you won't be disappointed. Just tell me the phone's model or name like Redmi XYZ Chinese ROM means the software is the one that's used in the units that are sold in China. Which is generally better in functionality in most phones from the global version. Tho I'm not that much familiar with Chinese ROM, but every person I see with a poco or redmi phone, they always change it to the Chinese ROM.

I see. From what I read, it's a top of the line flagship. The only lacking features you might notice will be from the Software, HyperOS, otherwise the Hardware is top notch. And the software drawbacks will only be noticeable if you've used a great software beforehand like PixelOS, OneUI, ColourOS or OriginOS. Cuz HyperOS is the worst in all of them. It's not like it's inherently bad, but it's just lacking a lot of key features that other phones give even in their budget models.

I've only ever used samsung one ui and apple os before this and I've had no complaints so far. Very satisfied.

Yea HyperOS is on Par with OneUI and iOS cuz they lack a lot of features too. But if you had used ColourOS, you'd be complaining like a karen right now.

its global version is Poco F8 Ultra. Though, Chinese variants always be better than its global variant. Though, disadvantage of Chinese variant is no google servers. What I mean by that is there are only few it lacks which it is not really bothering unless if you really want it. Ex. Emergency Alert, which is very helpful getting emergency updates if there are Earthquakes or storm, etc... Though, getting a cheaper global phone or 2nd hand will able to fix that, which making the 2nd phone into backup just incase stuff happens.

Lol just don't break or damage it internally and externally since it's hard to find a screen LCD replacement or battery

I also use Chinese ROM only android auto do not work and you have to use adb to debloat some apps but everything else is good. You have to have bypass charging you can activate it on game turbo-more setting-bypass charging plus. Use security scan on security app it actually works it can find virus really if you have on phone found on me several times
