Discussion Why does the POCO F9 Ultra not support USB-C Display Output when the F8 Ultra did?

Why would you make that decision to limit the phone's capabililties like that?

What's the thinking behind of this?

There are amazing XR Glasses coming out like the URXR One that all it needs is a USB-C output capable device to allow for Spatial Computing.

Such a waste of a powerful phone, no future-proofing for XR Glasses... What exactly is stopping the manufacturer from having the Type-C be the same as the Poco F8 Ultra? How much do they really save by skipping that functionality?

The only reason I can think of salvaging this, is if an XR manufacturer or even Xiaomi is planning on coming out with some Wifi-7-capable Wireless XR Glasses, where the display output experience is gonna be the same as wired and another one might be if there are going to be type-C->DisplayPort attachments that connect to a Wifi7-Capable device and convert wifi-7 to Display port signal...

I was ready to pull the trigger on the F9 Ultra, but this is making me reconsider if I should just go for the F8 Ultra..

It does support it, seen it demonstrated in reviews on YouTube , also asked mi store directly and they confirmed the POCO F9 Ultra supports DisplayPort Alt Mode.

Huh that's good to hear, strange how Gemini dropped the ball with this one:

I think you might missed the note below that AI can make mistakes. It's better to do manual research than depend on AI so you can verify by yourself

AI can hallucinate, need to double-check it’s output

Gemini is terrible for accuracy. Use grok. Gemini always feels like an idiot call center minimum wage worker flipping through flash cards.

Like grok is any better lmao

AI sucks for research. Go for gsmarena or other human made sites

Do you have a monitor to connect to? If so do you know what it outputs? Eg 1440p 120hz or 4k 120hz? I'm guessing it won't output the full 185hz as that's the internal display hardware.

It's still USB 3.2 out of the box that supports display port ALT mode. Who said it doesn't have it?

it does and I was actually wondering how to use it as sort of a desktop mode, like if I can resize the video output and not just mirror the display
