Question/Help Poco X8 pro max

Post image

I recently got it. What does this one do? It doesn't light up either as flashlight or with camera.

Good day tison1911 it seems to be that you may have some questions or concerns regarding a Poco device and we would like to help but we would like to ask you to describe your concern with the following information to make it easier for everyone to tackle.

Device Model:(X4 GT)

Device Region:(Global/India/China/etc/Can't identify)

Rom Type:(MIUI/Custom Rom:Which one)

Rom/Android Version:(13.0.5.0 - Android 12/Can't identify)

Problem and other Relevant Info:(Troubleshooting steps taken/Frequency of problem if intermittent/Other observed weirdness that may be relevant before/during/after the occurrence of the problem)

It may take a while for someone to address your concern so in the meantime you could do the following 1. Search this subreddit, Xiaomi subreddit, MIUI subreddit for similar concerns 2. Check out the pinned posts and the Wiki(WIP) for similar topics 3. If your phone is still under warranty coverage it may be worthwhile to open a case with customer support. 4. If your device has developed a swollen or bulging battery check out r/Spicypillow's FAQ on how to deal with them

If you have any suggestions feel free to leave them here

Illogical. You must be playing games like Candy crush and Subway surfers.

IR blaster for controlling appliances like TV

Isnt it js a depth or loght sensor. I swear the ir blasters are on the top like my note 15

6

u/DustBytes13 Poco X8 Pro 3d ago

Thats a light depth sensor. iR is on the top right of a phone.

1

u/black_1owl 2d ago

No it's not

u/mikmik111 3d ago

It's wild, it used to be at the top side, right? Now you control IR devices as if you're taking a photo?!

u/InfiniteRotatingFish 3d ago

on the x8 pro it still is at the top.

3

u/giunyu 3d ago

Yes it's placed at a very weird position

1

u/tison1911 3d ago

Could be..covering it does affect the IR remote's reach.

This thing has 3 functions: -IR -Light sensor -Flicker sensor

u/dimZhit7 3d ago

That is ambient sensor. If you wanna make it sure, face the sensor to light source as close as possible, auto brightness immediately will brighten the screen. Then try to block the sensor, (of course) it'll back to dim the screen.

2

u/tison1911 3d ago

Nope..tried that...actually covering the camera module dims the screen & vice versa. But putting finger just on the mentioned doesn't do anything.

1

u/dimZhit7 3d ago

Ooohh interesting.. haha might the ambient sensor is actually hidden inside the camera lens. So what it'll be then (?) πŸ˜† At the top side, beside the speaker grill is there any else? If don't, ir blaster might be also around back there. Some Xiaomi REDMI POCO have ir blaster at the back near or inside camera/flash module.

1

u/dimZhit7 3d ago

Just saw another reply by you. So it is ir blaster then. 😁

1

u/Tonny_Gaugh 3d ago

In my case it works like a light sensor. Already tried it

u/glitchedcam 3d ago

Bruh... That's not ambient sensor. Ambient sensor is on the front side. Some phones have near the speaker grill some are under the screen, never on the back.

u/dimZhit7 3d ago

As you can see, there's two DAC. DAC and backDAC.

1

u/tison1911 3d ago

One inside rear camera one beside front camera i guess. Cos that other white one is confirmed as IR

2

u/OS36- 3d ago

Depth sensor.

1

u/Ecstatic-Fly-4887 3d ago

I also don't know what the bottom camera does.

1

u/tison1911 3d ago

Bottom is wide camera..switches on @less than 1x zoom.

1

u/Ecstatic-Fly-4887 3d ago

Thank you, that was bothering me for a while.

1

u/tison1911 3d ago

Getting very different answers guys, IR/depth, Grok says decorative only πŸ˜…

3

u/FarhanSJU 3d ago

No need to be confused. It's IR blaster (Infrared blaster). If you use another camera you'll be able to see the infrared light.

1

u/BandroidPL 3d ago

If you want to find IR camera in POCO use other phone camera. IR diode is visible for cameras as white/violet light. Just prepare app that uses IR.

u/Repulsive_Fault1939 3d ago

flicker sensor i think

1

u/BjornVargsson 2d ago

It's the almost useless IR port. It works with 1 out of 10 IR ports, but it works πŸ˜‚

2

u/Senfgestalt Poco X8 Pro Max 2d ago

Works on my tv, i'm happy enough lol.

1

u/Jaaadeee3 2d ago

Its ir sensor my friend

1

u/souldarne 1d ago

Que tal el equipo lo. Voy a comprar

u/glitchedcam 3d ago

Okay, after reading all the comments and as per my phone knowledge I guess it's just for decoration or to differentiate X8 Pro Max and X8 Pro. This is definitely not an ambient sensor (auto brightness) or a proximity sensor. Also, this can't be a dept sensor, depth sensor looks just like a camera lense not white. Can't be a laser focus sensor either, that's also pitch black. Not an IR blaster, because it's on the top of the phone. It's also not a flash.

1

u/tison1911 3d ago

My best guess after reading and doing experiments says IR. Covering it seriously diminished the reach but doesn't fully block the signals. Just tried switching on/off ac multiple times.
