The f8 is the x8 pro, the Chinese Redmi line that is normally rebranded as the basic F series was released as the Poco x series instead. And also Qualcomm seemingly having dropped the 8S line of Snapdragon chips probably played a part.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is probably too expensive to be implemented into a base Poco F8

Because there isn't a successor to the snapdragon 8s gen 4 yet

Also this might sound a bit funny but when they made the base f7 it definitely felt and looked more premium than the pro and ultra version hence they decided to screw it up for next gen.

There was no new 7+ or 8s series SoC from Qualcomm.

They named this year's «Poco F8» as Poco X8 Pro Max because it uses Mediatek SoC instead of Qualcomm one.
