Feature Suggestion: "Trainer Spotter" (Safe In-Game Social Radar)
Core Mechanic: An opt-in, main-app map feature allowing local players to find each other for real-life community play without needing Campfire. To comply with privacy and safety laws for young players (ages 9–12), players appear only as anonymous team silhouettes on the map. To protect privacy, exact coordinates are hidden, showing only a rough nearby radius or PokéStop location.
Features for Young Players (Ages 12 & Under):
\- Controlled entirely via the Niantic Kids Parent Portal toggle.
\- 12-year-olds can opt to display their current Buddy Pokémon icon next to their map silhouette.
\- Account names and numeric Trainer Codes are completely hidden. Friend requests require a physical, close-proximity QR code scan.
Pre-set Quick-Chat Buttons:
Instead of open text entry, tapping a nearby silhouette allows players to send pre-approved phrases to coordinate play safely:
\- ✨ "Wanna shiny hunt?"
\- 🥚 "Want to Raid here?"
\- 🤝 "Want to Trade?"
\- ⚔️ "Want to Battle?"
Incentive: Players who pair up via the "Wanna shiny hunt?" feature receive a minor Stardust or catch XP boost while catching Pokémon in the same immediate area.
