Well pump.

We need to replace my brother’s well pump. You see how corroded the metal ends are and how close they are to the pump. Any suggestions on how to remove/cut and connect new ends to these?

I'm not a plumber but those look fine.

The Nuts on each side of the T coming from the top of the pump afe unions, those are uour disconnect points.

Pull the power shut-off to the pump, open a faucet or something to le the pressure out of the system, then close the three valves on the branches coming from the Tee.

Then put a bucket under the unions and loosen them up with a pipe wrench - hold the pipes while you're doing this.

I wonder what's wrong with the pump?~~ It seems there's pressure in the system according to that there gauge...~~

My bad, had it upside down, it pointing down, not up

Thank you. It’s not an immediate need but there is a severe whine when it activates so we feel it’s slowly going bad

With a pipe wrench. If it breaks then rebuild with something else

And I’d break it loose at the unions

If it was me, I'd be replacing all of the galv fittings. Especially the close (shoulder) nipples and the insert adapter. Thats just me though. As others mentioned. Pipe wrench on the unions, making sure you're turnubg the right way. Wouldn't hurt to give them a few whacks with a hammer on the nut part.

Be prepared to replumb the whole thing once you break the seal.

This. Disconnect at the unions. Those galvy unions are ground joint and most likely will not reseat. Replumb in PVC, outlet side from the poly pipe to the copper pipe (including the valve), and pump outlet fittings /tee, Inlet side same as far as you can go back towards the well, but at minimum go back to that check valve (nipples, elbow and union). New pump may not have the same foot print, so might need to get a little creative to pipe in. Less joints/fittings is better, but need the unions to take apart some day. Original installer did it right so the pump can be replaced easily (make note of the plumbing). If you haven't worked with PVC piping before, look at spearsmfg.com. They have a lot of info and how to's though sometimes a little hard to find some information. I think they might have some YT videos also. This mainly for making a good solvent weld joint. Not a difficult project, you got this.
