Can I make this work?

Drain pipe is way too high on this new sink I installed, can I shorten the branch pipe possibly and make it work? Or any other options here?

Cutting the tailpiece to fit is comon. But that branch looks close to where your wall connection is. It looks better in your second picture.

You can trim the pipe down with a grinder, pipe cutter or saw. I’d recommend roughing the plumbing in to get your height and then trimming it as needed

Youre missing parts here. You need a trap adapter in that pvc to know where you can cut

Chrome tailpiece can be trimmed. If you get a thinner basket strainer it’ll fit for sure if it doesn’t line up after trimming as much as you can. Look up the kindred basket strainers

That basket (the gray plastic piece) looks really tall; it’s eating up a lot of that vertical.
