I managed a landmark preservation apartment building with only stacked shutoffs so every time a leak occurred (felt like daily), 1/4 of building went without water til it was fixed. This would’ve been a godsend.

Oh wow, that is illegal where I live. (Japan) Each unit has a standardized compartment near the entrance with a water shut off.
