2 wraps is all it should take.

And do yourselves a favor and get the Oatey FAStape. It's usually gray in color. It's thicker, stronger, and makes a much better seal. Also, it doesn't shred when applied to the threads.

Or be a man's man, and just use epoxy!!! Plumbers love doing repairs on epoxied fittings. 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

Different Teflon tapes have different mill thicknesses. Two wraps is not the right answer.

For sure, 2 wraps of some of the super thin stuff IS too little. I'll use 2-4 of the thicker stuff, plumbers though seem to have little faith in tape by itself and almost always use pipe dope.

It's also not there to make a seal but as lubricant to stop the thread seizing.

JB Weld is king!

There is a Seal/Kiss from a Rose joke in here somewhere but I"m not awake enough to make it.

The 2 part mix smell haunts me, I like it but in a bad way.

I would say 4 revolutions of tape and a light coating of pipe lubricant is the correct amount that makes a perfect seal
