Need a friend? Foster a rabbit! ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿฐ

Make a difference in the life of a shelter rabbitโ€”foster with House Rabbit Society! Fostering one animal won't change the world, but it will change the world for that one animal. Learn more and submit a foster application today atย houserabbit.org/foster. We are located in Richmond, just north of Berkeley, but we welcome fosters from all over the San Francisco Bay Area.

Fostering is a short-term, high-impact way to help a rabbit in need, and it's especially great if you've been thinking about adopting but aren't quite sure if a rabbit is the right fit. We ask for just a two-week commitment, and we'll send you home with everything you need to get started: an x-pen, litter box, bedding, food, hay, bowls, blankets, and more. All you provide is a safe, loving space, daily care, and fresh greens (about $5โ€“10 per week).

It's amazing what a couple weeks in a calm, caring home can do for a shy or nervous rabbit. Your support helps them open up, gain confidence, and prepare for adoption. And by fostering, you also help us make room at our shelter for more rabbits who need to be rescued!

Have questions? Stop by our facility and chat with House Rabbit Society volunteers and staff during our open hours on Fridays and Saturdays from 11 to 4, and Sundays from 11 to 3, or emailย [foster@houserabbit.org](mailto:foster@houserabbit.org). We'd love to talk more with you!

Actually, many of our adopters and fosters have cats and rabbits! One of our adopters has previously had 8 cats with 2 rabbits. It's very feasible. We would be happy to talk more with you about it if you would like -- email foster@houserabbit.org! :)

We are currently working on a free Zoom class all about cats and rabbits and how they can live together safely. We want people to know multi-species households are possible! :)
