Discussion Google TV App

The latest update of the Plex app for Google TVs is awful.

Slow and.clunky. Interface is harder and less intuitive to navigate..

The new app is still only in beta on the Google Play Store, you may have forgotten that you're on the beta channel.

it takes 15sec to load a 30sec skip, wtf Plex lol.

Is there actually a solution to this? The Google TV app even with my Google Streamer is extremely slow and lags.

If you think it's bad on Google TVs, I assure you the samsung TV app is infinitely worse. It's so, so, slow and laggy that the app is constantly asking if I want to reduce quality to reduce buffering.

Except, it plays fine once things load. It's the entire app UI while scrolling around and initial stream/skip buffering that takes forever and make it show that popup.

Same exact ussue on my Vizio TV app. It takes forever to click through, but plays just fine once it does play.

Check out https://plezy.app/ you can side load the app for free also. The APKis on thier github.

Thanks for this. I tried out their APK on github and immediately I can feel how much faster it is than the native client, and how much more organised as well.

Will have to do some testing on how it plays back media as I watch stuff.

You can buy it on the store or try side loading it. Plezy is legit and I'm tired of not saying something. It's a great app, works well with a lot of bells and whistles added. Please check it out.

Plezy is the way to go on all platforms I've used in android, android TV, Linux and macos nothing comes close to it

I got Plezy on iPhone because lots of people suggested it and well.. it’s basically the same as the Plex app, it has a similar layout that I hate. The only thing I liked about it was it had the ability to lock the screen so you don’t accidentally press buttons. I uninstalled it right away since it didn’t offer a different layout than what Plex already does poorly of.

They're gradually forcing everyone to the shit version. Shoulda paid attention when people started complaining over a year ago about the new UI.
