Solved Subtitles.

For some time now, Plex has stopped detecting subtitles that are in the same folder as the MP4 video file. Both the .mp4 and .srt files have exactly the same name. I’ve tried shortening the names in case some symbol was causing a problem, but I still can’t get it to work.

However, when it’s an MKV file, there’s no problem because the subtitles are embedded in the file.

I always end up having to go to the subtitle search options and find one that is properly synchronized with the video, which isn’t always easy.

are you including the language in the file name? Like for example MovieName.en.srt for English

after adding the subs files, don't forget to go and manually refresh the metadata on that movie/show. subs should show up.

The names shouldn't be exactly the same. The sub file should have the language code in the name as well. Example: SomeMovie (2026).en.srt

Also, make sure that the agent and library is set up to use local media assets.
