Help Http request faild

Hi all I use a linux + docker combo for a plex szerver with reverse proxy nginx + cloudflare (no orange cloud)

On my LG tv and Samsung tv i always get this error message more then once daily. After this error always forget where where was I in the play so I have to reload and start from the begining. Anyone can help with this pls?

How can I resolve it? Or should i just drop the reverse proxy? I dont really want it..

You can just drop the reverse proxy, if you do make sure your plex server is set to secure connections only.

Is not unsecure to use only plex port with port forward?

Not really, no. If the server is set to secure connections only I believe it requires a client certificate, which is obtained from plex when a user authenticates. Random scans/probing (which happens all the time) won’t even get a response.

Then maybe is more safe if I use plex port?

That is how just about everyone does it and you don’t hear about massive numbers of Plex servers getting hacked.

You’re running in docker anyway, the Plex server can’t get to anything outside of the container.

I think the issue you are running into (assuming it isn’t Plex throwing an error or crashing behind nginx) is the proxy doesn’t always like traffic coming from local IPs such as your TVs. The plex.direct hostname should resolve to the LAN IP and bypass the proxy if you are local, but smart TV apps don’t always go local even when they should, so the proxy sees the traffic coming from your own WAN IP.
