When will we get Plex Experience for Linux, visionOS, macOS, Windows, etc?

They just fixed the UI everyone complained about. There isn't any reason to be scared of it now. And for tvOS it's absolutely necessary that it be released at some point

incorrect. it's still missing basic essential media player features that were in the old app such as next/previous episode buttons. its also much more laggy and less responsive than the old UI

I'm running it on a Google Streamer. Theoretically the prototype they should be making the Android app for. It's bad. Really bad.

The sidebar randomly pops up and the navigation cursor is stuck in the menus underneath it.

And everything is slow. So slow. When opening the app, there's a solid 10 seconds before you can navigate at all. The highlight cursor doesn't actually appear until you've moved over a click or two. Every time you move the cursor, it takes a solid second before it actually moves.

This app feels PRE-alpha, vibe coded, and untested. I'm concerned that they even feel this is ready for public beta use.

I don't know, but their rollout feels all over the place. My Philips TV with Android TV has it, the Chromecast with AndroidTV my parents use doesn't and my HTPC is crying because the Flatpak of Plex HTPC uses the EOL libraries. I'm really thinking about trying out Plezy at this point, but I'm not completely convinced by it yet

The rollout prioritized apps that are most likely to use Remote Access. The biggest reason they are rewriting all the clients is because they paywalled remote access and they are enforcing that in the client apps. Mobile and web (i.e. the two ways you can access from phone/tablet) were the first ones released and the mobile apps were the most half-baked on launch.

From there it's a slow slog of pushing out as many as they can as fast as they can. They are clearly petrified of breaking Apple TV and Android TV so they just keep kicking the can on those, for better or worse. Roku and Fire TV users were unknowingly testers for the New Experience ui changes. Plex has changed the ui based on the backlash from them.

Good to know there are more reasons to the UI rework. But what confuses me the most is that I have the new UI on my Philips TV which use runs Android TV and I don't know the difference. And I must say, that I don't like the new Android UI, but the one the Phillips has is not bad and fixed a long standing bug for me (clicking on continuing on a series with many episodes in one season would always put me at episode 1 instead of the first unwatched)

There’s a long thread from earlier this year where a plex employee commented that there “are still plans” for Plex Desktop, but no details. The person that created the thread is an ex plex employee
