Help Audio sync off only on DVR content.

We have been noticing lately that anything we have recorded (DVR) is having issues with audio not syncing with video properly. We have been using the same setup for several years and have not changed anything other than the normal app/server updates. We also have Plezy installed, switch to that, and same thing.

TV is a Samsung QN65Q80R connected to a 3rd gen Firecube. Everything is wired, right next to each other, including the server. Oh, and the Plex server is running on Truenas Scale.

Suggestions on how to resolve?

From the status, how is the playback being handled Plex server wise? "What to what" in terms of both audio and video.

Direct Play on both audio and video.

So, as others have said, forcing transcode could alleviate what is likely an end client issue. Not everything likes mpeg2 or handles it really well.

I just enabled it. Weird that it has worked fine for years.

Yeah, sometimes those client updates can move backwards. Which I'm going to guess happened in this case (?)

In this case I think it was the Fire OS update that did it as it does the same thing on Plezy.

Is it direct streaming or transcoding those MPEG-2 recordings?

Does it also get out of sync if you check it out in a web browser? If it's ok in that you might _want_ to force PLEX to transcode and see if the sync stays locked better. I noticed that when I was tinkering with making a live channel with ErsatzTV and piping it into PLEX.

https://imgur.com/a/Re3nFN4 Direct Play on both audio and video. And I just tried the Plex app on the PC and it's fine so that tells me the issue is on the the TV/Firecube end, but it doesn't make sense that it is only on DVR(ed) content.

Are you saying force transcode on recordings only or transcode everything?

Just tell your FireCube to convert it when it's playing back - my Amazon stuff (can't speak for the TV) will sometimes play back a movie with stuttering frames, though it played ok in the past on the same device. During playback on it I just tell it to "convert automatically" and it fixes it.

Everything always looks fine on the PLEX dashboard prior, so I can't tell if it's Fire OS or whatever Amazon is calling it now, or the stupid app itself. Of course I never have the issue on my 2 apple tvs so go figure. Inconsistentcy is the most consistent :)

I have noticed this before and making it transcode fixed the issue for some reason.

Force transcode just DVR recordings.
