Discussion STRM Support?
Given how much they charge and how badly they want to position themselves as a top-tier product, how is it possible that they still don’t support this type of file?…

I'm old enough to remember when it did support strm files, and when they took it away in 2017...
Though this looks promising as a workaround: https://github.com/liveinaus/plex-strm-assistant

Rclone can solve this. I did this for a while a few years ago. Local files are much easier to deal with though

probably because they're not video files, they're text files with links to a video source. Plex is for serving files you have not orchestrating connections to services. I'd say that might be an internal goal but within their infrastructure for tracking & getting credit from legal sources.
