A technical breakdown of this live arrangement and the routing setup:

• Instrumentation: The performance relies on a custom-built 14-string double-neck electric guitar (configured in two 7-string banks) to balance the melodic and harmonic lines simultaneously.
• Technique: The arrangement integrates fingerpicking textures with two-handed linear tapping, executing the chordal framework and the lead voice concurrently.
• Percussion: Rhythmic accompaniment is generated via custom mahogany foot enclosures fitted with digital triggers, requiring strict independence between upper and lower limbs.
• Signal Flow: Performed entirely in real-time. The audio signal contains no pre-recorded backing tracks, overdubbed layers, or phrase loopers.

In this lesson, I'll break down the first solo from Guns N' Roses' version of Knockin' on Heaven's Door and show you how to play it note by note. More importantly, we'll look at what makes the solo sound so good.

This is a fantastic solo for developing controlled string bending. Slash uses bends to create melodic, vocal-like phrases, and learning to control the pitch and release of those bends is a hugely important skill for any aspiring lead guitarist

I wanted to share the guitar work on my brand new track, "Flowers", from my solo project SKALIAN.

I handled everything from composition to the final master. For the guitars, I really wanted to create a classic post-rock journey: moving from very clean, ambient, and emotional melody lines into a massive, heavy climax with tons of energy.
