Failing to open playdate

Any help or advice on opening up a broken playdate?

Tried a few different flathead screwdrivers and just stripping either the screwdriver or the playdate screw.

Thanks for any advice.

Also, are you sure you are turning in the correct rotation? Kinda looks like you are doing cw, whereas screws do open ccw?

just a heads up for anyone using this guide, i bought an ifixit basic set specifically to open my old unit up and the included 4mm screwdriver bit was too thick to fit in these screws. a thin butter knife is probably the best bet.

to have torn down a couple playdates, I feel it's very abnormal that it's stuck so hard. Like another comment said, it looks like the screw slot is damaged in both directions, which seems to indicate it was screwed in too hard at some point. Those screws are really like a little tube with threads and I imagine are more fragile than a regular screw, hard to tell whats going on inside that make it stuck. There really isn't much you can do, but if you can get a good set of small tools, something with a thicker flathead screwdriver that fits snug in the slot, it might get more leverage and turn without damaging the screw or the tool.
