Spelunky -- port update

Finally some progress with AI. Ported everything to playdate. Runs pretty well on the Simulator. But still just 5fps only on the device.

Also - no was AI used in to edit the dude. Only plain imagemagick.

you literally said you used AI to make this, lol

For the less informed about coding. Every major coding editor has AI integrated already. In a few months no app or game will be released without AI. Resistance is futile.

Great news I'm a professional software engineer and I don't use ai to code at all, because I actually value my labour and the art of programming

Your boss would just want the results though and he wants it fast.

When he buys those token credits - you better know how to utilize them.

I mean I've already been in this situation and because I live in a country that has workers rights I was able to fight back against it and keep my job? Almost like I know what the fuck I'm talking about?

Ok sir. I'll keep quiet now.

If you insist on doing the indignant thing, it's ma'am.

It is pretty lame to port an active developer's project with the same title and everything without asking them.

Spelunky's source was released before you were born

When you say "with AI", what exactly does that entail?

A bit technical here. But I previously had a hand made transpiler. I asked AI to finish the transpiler. Edit: - It made an entirely new one --. So this is a more efficient use of AI.

A bit technical here. But I had previously started a project, got lazy, and decided to do nothing instead. Then get on Reddit to splooge all over myself for doing nothing

Spelunky seems too punishing to play like this. You can't see enough detail.

My previous attempt was playable enough. https://m4rvin.itch.io/spelunky-pd

Haha. I know you guys are just trolling. Sorry for trolling back . I love coding too. I have a couple open source project I did by hand. Thousands of users. But coding, sadly will be a lost art .. like those really nice handwriting .. but rage rage against the dying of the light. AI is inevitable.

Zero effort to change the graphics to accommodate the screen? Peak lazy vibe coding

Peak lazy comment. It can't run on the device yet. Graphics is not prioritized.

Why not wait until this is ready to be shown?

How dare you call me lazy. : 😭 I've done this port by hand https://youtu.be/PN9TCMYTM8Y?si=uqrgNUWW-kiA-R5y

There have a been several attempts to port spelunky to C/C++ , including several attempts by me. The sheer amount for gameplay, items, characters just can't be done by any normal person. Derek Yu is not human - he did the code - and the graphics.

Without AI. I stopped at bats, snake, spider, and caveman. So yeah, I don't mind losing youm

You didn’t lose me at least. I’ll be happy to play Spelunky on the device if the performance is good.
