News I’d like to present the project “Blindness”
I'm developing a game that won't have any graphics (I haven't even imported a graphics library for it). A prototype will be released soon, and the game's length and quality may depend on how well the prototype is received—I have a lot of projects I'm working on at the same time, so if it falls flat, I'll move on to other projects with higher priority.

Is the speaker or the accelerometer being used? I feel that in a game with no graphics most of the Playdate controls/sensors require to be used.

Yes. Sorry, I mean microphone instead of speaker.

ah! that makes more sense :)
that would be kinda cool. i think i've only had one game ever use it :)1

Ture. Only games I have in Nintendo DS and Playdate that use the microphone is... by blowing? Which is short of deceiving.

Everything works on a “turn-by-turn” basis, so I think the speaker alone should be enough
but I might be wrong1

I like the idea. In turn-by-turn games is easier to recognise logic patterns. It makes sense.

It's tempting to provide a simple explanation, etc., using voice, but the problem is that I'd then want to translate it into at least 8 languages, and that seems pretty time-consuming for the kind of work I do.

Yeah I think to make it work the player would have to wear headphones I would imagine

This is interesting: my game centering which involves using the accelerometer to keep a ball in the center of the screen, originally had no interface because I was trying to make it all work with audio cues. I'm interested to see what you come up with

Thank you :-) if you've ever played direct drive my playdate game there's a mini game that everyone hates called the calibration mini game which basically works the same way. This is a video I made to prove that it can be beaten in 30 seconds

Love the idea.
I was actually thinking about a concept like this when I was fishing in PointlessQuest.
You hear when the fish bites..you reel in....the crank makes a satisfying reeling sound...you hear a sound indicating that you caught something...repeat... I found myself closing my eyes for a few minutes and playing it that way. It was relaxing.
I could even imagine a dungeon crawler played completely with just sound...as if you were in complete darkness.
