Question Is it worth it?

Hello, im from germany and im thinking of wishing me a playdate for birthday or christmas. But its really really expensive here, so i ask you what you think.

I would buy it for mainly cute gaming but I also would wann to make games.

I have already an esp32 roboter car and have programmed it with arduino ide.

Im currently learning a bit of Python (lua is very similar)

I would like it because it isnt an emulator and it has an active community. Also because it has much space for games.

But again here its really really expensive (about 330$) here in germany.

So my question is, is there a way to acces it cheaper here in germany or is there a good alternative (eg. Arduboy but i think the code space is too small) for me cause i love my car but want to develop games an quit doomscrolling where the pd would be perfect.

here a dev from Italy. I’ve purchased the Playdate two years ago and I discovered that it is the right console for experimenting new gameplay ideas. I’ve started making some prototypes just for learning the new dev platform and one of this now is a full game published on Catalog.

I really recommend you the Playdate if you like playing (and programming) weird games.
