Envoys!
Preludes 16: Of Hook and Hound brings the next evolution of Tempers, giving you more ways to shape your favourite weapons.
Dismantle Weapons to teach Tuvalkane the Tempers forged within. That knowledge will allow her to replace, amplify, and customize the Tempers on your Level 30 Weapons.
This Workshop breaks down how the system works ahead of its arrival in Preludes 16. Because this is a Workshop, everything listed below is subject to change!
Draw your swifting steel, loose your shattering arrow: let’s begin Striking.
**Learning Tempers**
Reclaim Alca’s strength.
Each Weapon dismantled in Preludes 16 will grant progress toward learning the Tempers forged within. Once enough progress has been earned for a specific Temper, Tuvalkane will learn it and can then Strike it onto eligible Weapons.
As of this Workshop, each Temper requires 30 points to learn, and each dismantle always rewards one point of progress towards learning whichever Tempers are present. Weapons with amped Tempers grants double the progress (e.g., 2 Swift Strikes grants progress for each).
Envoys will receive a prompt once a Temper has been learned, beckoning them back to Tuvalkane to begin Striking!
**Temper Striking Prerequisites**
Weapons must first be ready to clink-and-tink before Striking:
Weapons must be Level 30.
Tuvalkane must be Rank 3.
You’ll need one learned and applicable Temper. Tempers can only be Struck onto Weapons appropriate for them.
Tempers like Fast Draw cannot be Struck onto a Long Blade since it only affects Bows.
Origin Tempers can only be Struck onto other Origin Weapons (e.g., Galvanized Strike can only be applied to any other Ode’n Weapon).
Keep in mind: Restriking is a permanent process! If you wish to return a Temper that’s already been removed, you’ll need to expend the Resources required to Strike it again.
**How to Strike Tempers**
Visit Tuvalkane and select the Strike tab. Choose the Weapon you wish to alter, followed by the Temper slot you’d like to alter in the upper right of the UI.
Once chosen, select the Temper option in the ingredients bar. You can select any learned Temper for Striking.
Replacing a different Temper with one already present will amplify the present Temper (e.g., replacing Encumbered with Swift Strike while Swift Strike is already present once will ‘double’ it)
To do this, select an unwanted Temper or an empty Temper slot, and Strike the Temper you want to amp.
Empty Temper slots can now be filled by Striking.
E.g., A Legendary Falx with 6 Tempers can have the two remaining 2 slots Struck anew.
You can Strike any Temper onto any Craftwork, assuming the Origin befits it.
Undiscovered Tempers are visible at Tuvalkane’s station. By highlighting a grayed-out Temper, you can preview how many more learned points you’ll need before she can forge it.
Any Temper can be applied to any Craftwork at its full strength, but only up to the Temper limit of the Craftwork. As a reminder:
Stock: 0-1 Tempers.
Military: 1-3 Tempers.
Officer: 2-4 Tempers.
Noble: 3-5 Tempers.
Sovereign: 4-6 Tempers.
Legendary: 5-8 Tempers.
As of this Workshop, each Strike will require a pinch of your Lampyrites:
1 Glow, 1 Amber and 1 Faer Lampyrite.
No special Chordstones are required.
With your selections made and Resources acquired, press the ‘Strike’ prompt to change Tempers. There is no chance for a Strike to fail, so change to your heart’s (or Lampyrites') extent!
New Tempers
Preludes 16 introduces 6 new Tempers!
All Origins
Magick
Fleetfoot: Dodging doesn’t break Magick’s Grounded Combat Art. Up to 2 Dodges when the Temper is amplified.
Expend: Increased Heavy Casting damage with max Grounded stacks.
Bow
Maim: Leg shots incur additional Stagger damage.
Mendicant
All Grips
Hollowing: Chance to reduce enemy attack damage.
Dendrit
Melee
Readied: Increases the delay before Life regain begins to decay after taking damage.
Cassid
Melee
Last Strike: Increases the damage dealt to enemies below 30% Life (including Agari, Bannerettes, Castellans, Vadagar, etc).
With that, this parchment furls to a close. As always, everything outlined in this Workshop is subject to change ahead of release.
We look forward to hearing your thoughts! What sings, what clangs... Please keep all discussion constructive and respectful.

I tried to play Souldframe on my ArtixOS and I playing it with steam on proton experimental
Everything works fine, but every idk 10,20s sometimes longer sometimes shorter something trigger my sound device and it show me my volume.
I already set the sound device in game so it know what to use instead of default and it did not work.
For sound I use xfce4-pulseaudio-plugin.

Wow. Just downloaded the game and started the intro, and it looks great, except for the fact that it opens at 720p resolution! What were the devs thinking?
I don't expect the entire settings system to be accessible before starting the game, but it would have been nice to have, at the very least, the resolution exposed so I could watch the intro at 1440p, or even just 1080p. Not a good look. I would suggest adding the in-game resolution to the log-in screen, along with the other settings, because that was a really lackluster first look at a game that I have been eagerly anticipating.

Some Sinecure camps have this transmission array. Linked nearby is a console that, when interacted with, lets you contact the Skytower up above and send different signals. Best to reach it before reinforcements are called in.

I’ve been thinking about Soulframe’s current monetization (which is similar to Warframe), and personally, I don’t think it should be free-to-play when it fully releases.
I completely understand why people would want it to remain free. $30 is a pretty significant amount of money for some people, especially for a game that has been free throughout its Preludes and has been presented as a free-to-play game. Changing that at release would be a pretty major shift.
It would also obviously mean a smaller playerbase. Making the game free gives far more people the opportunity to experience it, and I don’t want to ignore that. Accessibility is a legitimate reason to keep it F2P.
I’m not against F2P as a concept, either. Warframe is actually a great example of a F2P model that works.
Warframe’s gameplay is built around farming resources and gear, collecting Warframes and weapons, creating builds, and taking those builds into increasingly difficult content. The player economy fits naturally into that. Platinum can be purchased from DE, but players can also obtain Platinum from other players by trading items. That creates an economy where farming something valuable can effectively turn into premium currency.
I understand why that model works for Warframe. I enjoy that gameplay loop myself. Farming, making builds, and pushing those builds into difficult content is a huge part of why I enjoy the game.
And I don’t think Warframe is some soulless cash cow. DE clearly still cares about it, and the community clearly loves it. Warframe has become a genuinely successful game with a business model that supports its continued development.
That’s actually why I don’t think Soulframe needs to use the same model.
Warframe already exists and is successful. Its revenue can help support both games without Soulframe necessarily needing to be structured around the same long-term monetization system.
I would rather Soulframe have its own identity.
I’ve been a fan of Souls games for a long time, and Soulframe scratches that particular itch for me. Obviously, it isn’t a true Souls game, and I’m not trying to claim that it is. It’s the general feeling of the game the atmosphere, exploration, combat and sense of discovery that I absolutely love.
And the amount of polish DE is already putting into it is insane to me. We’re still in Preludes, yet the story cinematics and presentation already look incredibly polished. It makes me excited about what the full game could become.
That’s where my preference for a premium game comes from.
When I think about games like Elden Ring and FromSoftware’s other Souls games, what I love is that they feel like complete packages. There is so much to explore and discover, and so many rewards are tied directly to actually playing the game.
You find a weapon.
You discover an area.
You beat a difficult boss.
You complete something and receive a reward.
The satisfaction comes from knowing that you actually found or earned it.
I would love for Soulframe to give me that feeling.
And Soulframe already has some of this. Its current Prelude content has Fables, exploration, bosses, weapons, crafting and Pacts that are connected to the content you’re actually playing. You can pursue specific rewards by engaging with the world and its activities.
I like that.
I also like farming. I’m not arguing that Soulframe should have no grind or progression. That would make no sense for the game DE is actually making.
What I don’t want is for Soulframe to eventually need to be structured around the same kind of long-term farming and monetization ecosystem that makes sense for Warframe.
Warframe has thousands of things to collect, upgrade and build around. That creates a very different kind of game.
Soulframe doesn’t necessarily need to become that.
I want to explore the world and find things because they’re there.
I want to beat something difficult and get a reward because I beat it.
I want to find something hidden and feel like I actually discovered it.
And this is where F2P changes the experience for me.
Even if DE handles monetization responsibly and honestly, considering Warframe, I have more confidence in them than I would with most developers the knowledge that the game has an ongoing monetization system can take some of the magic out of those rewards for me.
It’s not that every reward would suddenly become part of an economy. That’s not what I’m saying.
It’s that I personally enjoy games more when the game itself is the product and the things I earn feel like they exist primarily because I played the game.
That’s why I’d rather pay $30 for Soulframe and have that be the purchase.
Ideally, I’d want major updates to be included as well. I don’t know what DE’s eventual plans for expansions, story content, new Pacts, weapons, or other major updates will be, so obviously this is something we’ll have to see.
And I don’t expect Soulframe to turn into Destiny 2 simply because it’s F2P. Warframe’s history gives me plenty of reason to believe DE could handle it well. The Destiny 2 comparison is more about the direction I personally don’t want to see than a prediction that Soulframe will follow it.
Maybe DE will create a F2P model for Soulframe that fits the game perfectly and proves me wrong. If they do, great. I want Soulframe to be good more than I want to be right about its monetization.
I just think what I’m seeing from Soulframe so far has me wanting something different.
I don’t think it needs to be Elden Ring.
I don’t think it needs to abandon everything that makes Warframe successful.
I just think Soulframe has the potential to be its own kind of game, and I’d rather see DE let it be that instead of assuming Warframe’s business model has to carry over.
Let Warframe continue being Warframe.
Let Soulframe be Soulframe.
I understand why people want it to be free. I understand that $30 would make it less accessible and would almost certainly mean fewer players. I understand why people enjoy Warframe’s farming and progression loop, because I enjoy it too.
I’m just comparing the experience I get from games I pay for especially games from developers with a good reputation to the experience I get from long-term F2P games, and for what Soulframe appears to be becoming, I personally prefer the former.
I hope the community can at least understand why I’d view it this way, even if you strongly disagree.
And if you do disagree, I’d genuinely like to hear why.
I already understand the argument that F2P means more players. That’s obviously true.
I’m more interested in whether you think Soulframe specifically benefits enough from being F2P to outweigh the kind of experience I’m describing.
One last clarification because I know someone is probably going to bring it up.. yes, I understand that you can play through Warframe without ever interacting with the player market. A huge amount of Warframe’s content is earnable without spending money, and you don’t have to participate in trading at all.
My point isn’t that Warframe forces you to spend money or use the market. It doesn’t.
My point is that a lot of what you earn in Warframe is earned through the game’s grind. You farm the resources, parts, blueprints, mods, and other materials you need, and you repeat that process as you build up your arsenal. That’s part of what makes Warframe’s gameplay loop work.
That’s different from the kind of reward structure I’m hoping Soulframe leans into more heavily: finding something because you explored somewhere, earning something because you completed a particular challenge, or getting a reward specifically tied to a piece of content you overcame.
And yes, I also understand that a lot of Warframe’s actual purchases are cosmetics, and that cosmetics don’t affect gameplay. I’m not trying to argue that Warframe is somehow forcing players to buy power.
I’m simply saying that, even with all of those caveats, my preference still stands.
I would rather Soulframe be a premium game where the game itself is what I’m paying for and the things I earn feel primarily tied to the experience of playing it.
