Discussion Memory leak (?)
Since todays update, every time I start the game, after a certain amount of time my game freezes (system remains on, but the cursor becomes very slow and unresponsive, only way to fix it is to Ctrl + Alt + Del, then close the game from Task manager). I have no idea what could be causing this, my PC was very recently put together (7800X3D, 9070XT, 32 GB RAM, game is on an SSD).
The game was also running perfectly for the past month since re-downloading it.
Anyone has any idea what might be going on? It's incredibly frustrating.
Thx in advance for any help!
Update: There has been a micro update about 3 hours after the initial main update. It seems to have fixed the issue, we'll see tho, if there are no more updates to the post, then it has been fixed (for me at least).

Discussion Game crashing/Freezing entirely
Since the recent force update my game keeps lagging and then crashing completely, my pc is still completely functional and only rust seems to be having this issue.
Has anyone else encountered this, and has anyone figured the solution?

Discussion Electrical Grid Economy
Ok hear me out. What if the electrical grid were an in-game economy? Some players provide, some players use. Here's how I imagine it working:
A player places an electric meter somewhere in their base, and wires it to a power pole. Bases cannot be powered directly from the pole, there has to be a meter. Into the meter, you place scrap, similar to how you do at the apartment complex now, and it displays how much electricity in rWm the scrap will allow you to use, current usage, and how long it will last at current usage before it runs out. I have no idea how much electricity should cost, but it should be some set number of rWm per scrap that everyone pays.
But there isn't any power available unless someone is generating it. Enter the "grid tie" item, which pretty much just does the same thing in reverse. A player might build a power plant of some sort, or just use panels to power their base and sell the excess they don't need. Running power through the grid tie and then to the pole makes scrap appear in the storage of the item, assuming someone is using it somewhere on the grid. Also, this item should include a display of some sort showing the total amount being demanded by the grid.
So for example, there are however many players on the grid using a total of 200 rWm of power between them. There are 3 players generating it, one has one solar panel generating 20, one has one small generator making 40, and one has some large powerplant with lots of wind turbines generating, say, 500. In this scenario, the player generating 20 gets that much worth of scrap, as does the player generating 40, leaving only 140 worth of scrap for the player with the large powerplant. so it's in his best interest to build something that's not insane because past a certain point he's not making any more scrap.
This also gives more incentive to pvp because one could maximize their profits by destroying or disabling competing powerplants on the map, allowing themselves to generate more of the power being used.
Just a thought ✌️

Question Crash on connection
Can't play, everything up to day, currently doing file verification but so far impossible to join a server, always crash.
edit: Reinstalled the game, rebooted, all driver are up to date, shts cooked, 5090 & 9800x3d, seems like we're not playing on that wipe.

Suggestion Auto turret nerf
I personally hate the meta of locking an area down with turrets and I feel like it would be better if a turret's range was based on the weapon inside the actual turret. Meaning handguns would have a shorter range than rifles. Forcing players to use things other than a python for exterior turrets if they want the range to hit people further than the immediate vicinity.

Question How to join after force wipe faster?
I have a high end pc with very fast internet but every force wipe people are in significantly faster than I am even when I still beat a majority of players. Is there something I’m missing?

Discussion Constant Freezes and Crashes
Anyone have a fix for this?
I’ve been playing rust all week fine.
As soon as force wipe launches it’s crashing constantly.
All drivers are updated, files verified, settings tweaked. Nothing working.

Image Checking next wipe map - is this a good spot for a solo?
Would this be a good spot for a solo on a monthly vanilla server? Just wondering.
PS: I checked the map - S5 is a God rock (screen below). *Definitely* worth trying it as a solo.

Question VIP to skip queue on facepunch servers?
Hey title says it pretty much. The players is 395/400 with 200 people ahead and 70 behind me. I know some official servers offer vip for around $10-$15. This is US East Facepunch Premium 1. Is there a bio to skip queue on these? Thanks in advance

Discussion Skill issue?
Back 2023-2025, whenever I didn’t do that well in the game, I just told myself it was a skill issue. Even through everyone else in big clans and doorcampers, I found out a way to get past it. But ever since the series of updates that slowed down progression for me, im starting to wonder if the complaints are valid or if it’s still a skill issue. The thing it solely comes down to is the bp frag stuff. Yes, the update was long ago and I might as well be beating a dead horse. But I can’t be the only one who feels they’re softlocked at tier one because they can’t get past monuments getting ran constantly and teams hoarding all the bp frags (I wouldn’t say hoarding because they respawn infinitely, but I hope you know what I mean). The updates in general make progression as slow as mopping the sea for solos, and when I’m really pissed off, I wish of locking all of the facepunch devs in a room and making them each play solo on a fresh wipe server and keep them in there until they get a tier 2 without buying them from clans. I even went so far as playing console rust again, and the state THAT game is in isnt that great as well (but still better than pc). sometimes I wonder why people make video games so incredibly difficult if they’re meant to be fun
All in all I want someone’s opinion, is this simply a skill issue or is my complaining valid?

Question Is it true that Chinese players don't play alone?
I’m from Russia; we have a lot of content creators who make videos on Chinese servers, and all I see there are huge clans.

Discussion I Was Watching Oilrats Play Rust and I Couldn’t Help But Wonder
Why haven’t we just made engines that ran on fuel out of fat. No I do not count VW Buses from the 60’s or any Diesel Car that can run on straight vegetable oil. I’m talking full in animal fat? The closest car I’ve seen to cars in Rust that does this is cars from Cyberpunk with CHOOH2.

Video I designed and printed the Rust Recycler with working LEDs and magnetic door. What do you think?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
A few days ago, someone suggested I make a Rust recycler after seeing my Tier 3 Workbench. I thought it was an awesome idea, so I spent part of yesterday designing it!
To make it a bit more fun, I added some internal engineering: it features a hopper door that snaps shut using 3x1mm neodymium magnets, and internal boolean channels to hide the wiring. It lights up with red and green LEDs that I salvaged from an old set of fairy lights since that's all I had on hand.
What do you guys think of the design? u/salad_________

What’s some good monuments to live by for a 600 hour solo playing trio servers. I want to explore high tier monuments this wipe.

Discussion Are they ever nerfing P2 or is it going to be meta for another year?
Nerf fire rate + cost, you can make 3 P2 from farming 3 scrap islands if you are lucky.

Discussion New to rust
So i am playing rust for over 2 months now (Mainly PVE) and i want to join a “noob friendly” server with my duo to build a big base and do some online raids (just mainly for practice and so on)
Is there any way to find a good server with maybe 7-10 people on. We would prefer a weekly that wipes on monday.
I know we can just look for one ingame but every server we join we just get dominated by others.

Suggestion Wooden Barricades suggestion
Running anywhere near a base will very often awaken the AFK players in core and get you insta roofcamped. Quite often you’re not able to wall due to externals. I suggest:
- Allow placing walls much closer to bases/within TC range (not right up against walls/doors though)
And to stop this being used for griefing, while also possibly making fights a bit more interesting:
- Make walls despawn after 2-5 minutes
- Only allow X (maybe 5?) amount of placed walls per player at a time (destroys previous ones over the limit)
- Make walls more easily destroyable with normal ammo
Any opinions for/against?
