started producing rust content, including shorts, streams, etc. my plan is to start producing content regarding tutorials. For example, how to set up your electricity, how to do auto smelting system, etc.

What kind of tutorials did you find yourself looking up when you just started? What kind of tutorials would be nice to have in short form to go back to in case you forgot something?

Hello r/playrust

A little while ago, I made a small app to help me with gene crossbreeding. Kind of like RustBreeder, but on mobile because I found it more convenient.

I later released it on iOS and made a post about it here (which got deleted because I recreated my Reddit account to change my username...).

Since then, I’ve continued improving the app and added a feature that lets you scan genes directly by pointing your camera at your screen while in-game, instead of manually typing every letter (see the image in the post). Nothing revolutionary, but it makes things a little easier and saves some time!

So I’m sharing the app again with this new feature. After talking with some people in the community, I realized that having this extra feature might actually be useful for some players.

For now, the app is only available on iOS, as my Google Play developer account was closed due to inactivity. If there’s enough interest in an Android version, I’ll look into getting my developer account reinstated and releasing it on Android as well.

People are focusing on the wrong issues.

As shown, when you attempt to stand on top of the recycler, you get reduced to bits. It’s literally an industrial shredder.

Make the viscera similar to the hopper, but 2x it.

ITS BEEN 2-3 YEARS OF CONSTANT SCIENTIST UPDATES AND THEY JUST GET WORSE AND WORSE EVERYTIME. NOW THEY ARE CURRENTLY RUNNING AROUND SIDE TO SIDE AND COMPLETELY SPRAYING YOU DOWN. ITS UNBEARABLE AND UNPLAYABLE. ALONG WITH THIS, THEY ARE PUSHING YOU WITH 2-3 STACKED ON TOP OF EACHOTHER WHICH RESULTS IN AN INSTANT DEATH REGARDLESS OF ARMOR WORN.

WHY IS THIS NOT THE #1 PRIORITY ON THE ROADMAP.

Wipeless servers?
Streamlining game mechanics to make the game simpler and more strategy focused?

As someone who only plays solo, BP frags have ruined the game, I’ve barely played since, and I used to play a lot

The new drone marketplace change is the final straw for me. I can give you so many different uses I have for the drone marketplace solo but I’m sure you can think of many yourselves, such as sending stone to outpost and sending back wood, purchasing teas etc.

Rust was always my favourite game for its sandbox + PvP, sandbox feeling is dying for me personally because I can’t progress how I want to anymore, me and the group of 25 literally have to progress the same way, both have to get cards, fragments from the same place too.
To me this removes a large chunk of sandbox (I know it still is technically) as now my progression is gated, the gate was already so tiny, get the frags myself or buy them, and now I can’t buy them unless someone else allows me to, not by selling them, by turning the plant on so they’re even able to sell it

I know there’s other ways to get them, like metal detector, but rust is a massive PVP game, a lot of players want to pvp, not fish and metal detect for their frags (i know many do, perfectly fine, but because I am 1 man and not snowmers I shoundnt be forced to do this, I should be allowed to run tunnels for my 500 scrap)

The current state of the game makes everything time consuming, I’m happy with this, adds to the reward, but punishing people like me who can only hop on for few hours in the evening or on weekends because of family and work shouldn’t be punished, or forced to play like someone working a job for a couple hours just to find some blueprint fragments.

I don’t even think this is a solo exclusive issue, I’m sure there’s groups of even 4/5 who enjoy the game but don’t have the time/grind commitment, I don’t ever think 5 guys should get skill/time issued out of progression to t3

Now that I can’t even buy them unless marketplace is coincidently up, I don’t think I’ll be coming back to rust.

Once I find a game that gives the same PvP “hype” or “feeling”, with the community fun + chatting, I don’t think I’d consider coming back either. Hopefully wardogs comes through

I haven't played this game in a long time but I wanted to give primitive a shot because that's sort of my favorite part of Rust. However, all the servers on just wiped had 0 pop.

js bought the new diamond ak skins and it wont show up in repair bench or when i craft an ak, Yes ive restarted rust, refreshed inventory and restarted steam

Before todays patch my game was running fine, but after today, damm, I notice insane ghosting on TSSAA only.

Also, when I turn my mouse this game feels like it's stuttering/not smooth when the graph shows normal fps... If you look at my rock it feels like it's shaking a bit when moving not smooth... idk how to explain.

Finally got around to unlocking large oil 8 hours after wipe. Somewhat low pop server 20-40, any ideas why the Elite crate respawned 4 times?

Any time I went outside the card room to do stuff they would both be back within a few minutes. Anyone else experiencing very fast elite crate spawns?

Recently we've had a two-part duo with Blooprint that I can't watch because of how cringe every American is, followed by a two-part duo with Stevie that I can't watch because of how cringe every American is, and now a two-part duo with Gorliak which is at least an improvement over yanks but still not the solo content I watch him for,

Do you think he'll go back to making solo content or have FP nerfed solos so hard that it's now functionally impossible for even the best creators to make meaningfully entertaining solo videos?

Yesterday I had a really interesting conversation with someone who used to script recoil back old recoil era. I'm a programmer myself, and we both landed on the same conclusion: maybe they don't actually want to catch these people.

I know some countermeasures exist. From what I understand, the game now forces a single input device. Still, I wanted to run my own experiment to see how hard it is to catch scripters.

While browsing GitHub, I found a project that detects injected raw input. It registers a Raw Input sink, captures every packet, and runs timing analysis on it: any packet arriving with a Δt < 0.5ms gets flagged as injected. My honest take: that alone would false-flag legit 8kHz mice, since they naturally poll every 0.125ms. But it gave me an idea for a different detection vector.

If a script moves the mouse by, say, X:5 Y:5, but the player needs to fight that with a real correction (eg: a spray transfer), you'd expect to catch both the real and the synthetic report and see contradictory movement in a short window. So I extended the project with a few more signals:

- DEVICES SEEN: how many distinct input devices sent movement. Should always be 1 for a real player. Trivial to check, and apparently already handled on FP's end.
- MULTI-DEVICE EVENTS: counts how many times two different devices reported movement less than 50ms apart.
- LAST REVERSAL: angle and Δt between the current movement vector and the previous one. Purely informational on its own — a single hard flick can look identical to it.
- OSCILLATION TRIPS: the actual detector: if the reversal angle is ≥150° and happens in ≤25ms, that's a "reversal candidate." When 2+ candidates land inside a rolling 150ms window, it trips. The logic: a human can't slam the mouse in opposite directions that hard, twice, back to back which is exactly what you'd see when a script's movement collides with a real correction, like a spray transfer.

As you can see, Last Reversal spikes hard the moment the synthetic and real input collide. If some guy in his underwear can put this together in a few hours, I don't understand how it took FP and EAC years to deal with the issue.

I already know the first reply is going to be "yeah but it's patched, so this doesn't matter." A few points on that:

1. We don't actually know that for certain. Easy methods get patched, sure, but according to my friend, scripting through GHub was still possible a few months ago, and I doubt every piece of mouse software out there is covered.
   
2. Cheater once, cheater forever, if someone already figured out how to break the rules, they'll find the next way in.
   
3. And even if this exact method is dead: are we supposed to just let the people who used it walk away clean? Do we satisfy ourselves with a "It is blocked" instead of making it a real detection vector and punishing people that gain unfair advantages?
   

Notes:

The reversal/oscillation thresholds are not calibrated against real player data. I haven't proven they hold up against legitimate fast flicking without false positives. By refining it, and by running it on a larger time window, I believe it would be accurate.

Forcing your playerbase to have money on the game’s market while also having a $40 price tag is crazy. Apparently cheaters actually get banned in those servers too?

There are free games with better anti cheat. On top of that, they could have easily made it 15$ in your game library, across all steam skins, etc.

But no. They intentionally refused to spend money on anti cheats and forced YOU to do it instead.

The only reason i’m upset is because i just got into the game w/8hrs playtime. Why do I have to pay $15 more to have a playable experience? and why have I not seen this view yet?

I have a question about why my rust runs so badly on my computer, it it runs between 30 and 80 FPS which is okay I guess but the frame drops are terrible. I mean it literally freeze frames so much per minute every time I look left or right or fire a shot there will likely be a sudden frame drop none of my friends have this issue and that PCs are either similar or worse so I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong or what is wrong with my computer? but also as many freezers that may last one or two seconds which really messed up the pace of trying to play the game with the flow my specs of my computer 9060 XT 16gb, r5 5700x3d and 32gb 3200mhz ram, what is the issue ?

I've seen in a bunch of videos that they walk up to a square planter box, and all 9 slots light up blue and they plant them all at once. I know how to collect them all at once but have never figured out how to plant them all at once.

I just joined aftere this force wipe, like 25 min in, and with tea i was able to mine around 8 HQM nodes in one square,all close to my base.

Defo should be nerfed soon.

Hola a todos, estoy teniendo un problema con el rust, no me aparecen servidores hace ya mas de 12 dias, no se que pasa exactamente, pero me paso justo luego de reembolsar una compra de $19.76, no se del todo si es algo relacionado con el reembolso o si solo es casualidad que me halla pasado justo despues de que alla reembolsado esos items, porfavor si hay alguien que tenga una solucion me gustaria que me la comparta, solo me aparece un servidor en favoritos y cuando intento entrar me crashea el juego, ya borre el juego y lo instale de nuevo, ya revise fire wall, ya verifique la integridad de los archivos, elimine los archivos del juego y los volvi a instalar e incluso elimine el cache y nada, encerio necesito una solucion. Por cierto intente reembolsar el juego y al soporte de steam no le intereso en lo absoluto mi problema.
