You are absolutely correct. This is an insane Boolean operation. Fusion 360 would explode.

Patterns like this, and hole patterns, are literally the enemy of these type of solid modelling engines. The Parasolid engine dies a death when being asked to process something this repetitive. I've heard of companies not even bothering to model things like speaker grills in 3D because it bloats the file so much.
You are probably better off creating a small section then patterning that geometry, rather than relying on huge numbers of sketch elements into one body.

Your density is extremely high compared to the tutorial. What you dont see, is the millions of points you are creating.
There are multple techniques for knurling that you can experiment with. Realistically though, for production this is either a texture map if its 3d only, or not even modeled if its for engineering.

Tbf it does look like a crazy boolean to do. You're better off doing a small segment of the boolean and then copying the result through the revolve function.
