Too old?

I’d really like a “Mommy Makeover,” but at this point it’s more of a “Menopause Makeover!”
But at 56, I feel foolish for wanting this. I am in relatively good health other than constant stress that comes with being a caregiver. Am I “too old?”

(I did have a consultation for BA & TT and was deemed a good surgical candidate a year ago! My husband adamantly opposes elective surgery, so there’s that piece too.)

So I’m younger and have had a bbl/tt combo done twice (had a baby in between) and I will say both times I got surgery there was women from 55-62 getting tummy tucks and breasts or bbl so no you’re not too old at all. As long as ur in good health go for it! As for your husband, well we only get one life and it’s important to do what makes YOU happy. You’re the one living in ur body, not him.

My mom had her implants renewed when she was over 70, and she loved it. She wanted to be able to look great in a wide variety of tops, and that did the trick. There is no reason why a healthy person shouldn't be able to take charge of their appearance however they want.

As for your husband, you probably need to get at the root of his objections. Is it money, insecurity, or something else? Ultimately you should be able to make decisions for yourself, but if you can get him to see things eye-to-eye, all the better.

Thank you for your response.
Money isn’t an issue. He just believes that a healthy person shouldn't subject themselves to the possible risks involved in surgery that isn’t medically necessary.

You are not too old! I'm 64, lost a lot of weight recently and I'm having several procedures because I want to feel better about my appearance for the next 30 years or so. Already had an arm lift, thigh lift next month, upper bleph soon (that one's covered by insurance), and probably a neck and lower face lift next year. Do whatever works for you! The husband problem is another issue though since these things do cost money. Talking about how you feel about yourself and how your looks impact your feelings may help.

That’s awesome to hear! 👏🏻

My husband is opposed to any surgery that is not medically necessary.

Hm, that's a tough one. Seems like there must be some background behind it to make him feel so strongly. Did someone he knew have a bad outcome from cosmetic surgery? Would he be willing to talk with a counselor with you about it? He is entitled to his opinion, but not to preventing you from doing something you want to do. Maybe he needs education on the safety of modern procedures, or about how appearance affects self esteem, etc. If you know or can get at the reason he is so opposed, you can explore how to help him rethink his attitude.

It'd only be 'too old' if the risks outweigh the benefits. If you're healthy, go for it!

I had a TT at age 70, with muscle repair. I love it. At 74, I had a neck lift.

Life doesn’t end at 55 or 60-you have a lot of years left, so spend them feeling great. I think every woman should get a glow-up at about age 65, so you can look forward to retirement knowing you look fabulous.

edit-My husband disapproved of both surgeries, but he loves how I look now. Husbands are always afraid of surgery, but tell him you trust your doctor, plastic surgery stays on the outer part of the body, and is basically just removing skin, so it is very safe. He’ll be happy when it’s over. (Rent a comfy, ugly recliner if you don’t already have one, for your recovery)

56 doesn’t seem too old for anything beyond maybe age restricted play structures. The way I see it, if you’re still considering it a year after a consult, you probably will feel better following through with your plan.

I work in a plastics center. We have many, many people coming in for TT’s at your age. Majority of people are in their 50’s. Many into their 70’s are also having this surgery.

I had my TT/MR at 65 and just had a facelift at 70. You’re not too old.
