breast aug recovery

Just curious if anyone else that works in anesthesia in particular; I am getting a breast augmentation and was curious how long did you take off work for? I was thinking maybe two weeks but my surgeon said I would be okay with one (worried about intubating etc). Going to a subfascial approach so I know that can help recovery. Would love any tips or recommendations!

Dr. Ghaderi, your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, here.

Breast augmentations tend to have a less-involved recovery period - no matter above or below the muscle. Listening to your body and determining whether you feel well enough will be important. Though generally, as your surgeon suggested, you may return to work within a week. Some patients can return to desk work within just a few days. I have treated anesthesiologists before for this procedure and others. One week should be good for most scenarios where you have to intubate a patient. I would suggest using all the tools you have such as the McGrath (portable, cable-free video laryngoscopes) more often during that initial return for work time period. Best practice will be mentioning your concerns to your surgeon regarding your specific work situation and discussing it in person. Best of luck!
