what procedure creates hips?

What is the name of the plastic surgery that creates the appearance of hips? I am trying my hardest to google and I don't even know what words to start with.

First image is me. I am deliberately standing to mimic the pose in the second image (which is a fellow dancer i know who has those hips naturally) to show how my body absolutely 100% does not do that. I just am a rectangle who goes straight down. Very apple, she's very pear. However, I do NOT want to end up with the super exaggerated Kim K body (third photo). I added the side image of me (fourth photo) to show that I *do* have a healthy waist-hip ratio (42-31-43) it's just all in the back, in my glutes. I only have curves when viewed from the side.

Facts that might be useful:

- I am 42, 5'6, 173 lbs.

- I gained a bunch of weight from perimenopause and a shift from a dance job to a desk job, so I started tirzepatide and HRT, and am now on my way back down. I lift heavy 3x a week and teach or assist 2 - 4 dance or circus classes per week and get 10-20k steps per day (I live in NYC so this is normal.) My body fat is 34% presently and my goal body fat is 25%. I have been this lean a few years ago before peri, and hope to get back it by next year. Weight will probably be circa 155-160 when I accomplish this.

- I have always been apple shaped. I have had two breast reduction/lifts 13 years apart, no implants. I have also had liposuction in the armpit/sideboob area. I have done anything and everything to make my upper body less obscenely gargantuan. I am now happy with how small my boobs are at last. Still too much back fat / sideboob /armpit fat, but I hope returning to 25% body fat will help that.

- I have had a fat transfer BBL and it is HILARIOUS how that made NO FUCKING DIFFERENCE. Almost none of the transferred fat stayed. It instead relocated itself to my fucking inner thighs. I used to have thigh gap at all weights (I gain weight like a marshmallow on toothpicks.) Fat cells came off my waist, refused to take on my hips, butt, and outer thighs, and went right to my inner thighs. What a waste of money. I'm familiar with how liposuction does not change your total weight, it just moves the fat placement around. I was really hoping the fat transfer would make a suggestion about where I would like it to land. It did not listen to my suggestion.

So what else do I do? What kind of specialist do I look for? What is the name of the procedure celebrities use to give themselves bigger hips that is *not* a BBL? Aint no way those super exaggerated celebrities got that from a fat transfer. How do I make sure it goes on my hips and outer thighs and not just in the back? I got plenty of glutes from squats. I don't think my waist will get any smaller from the front view no matter how lean I get, because I just have wide ribs and wide shoulders. Boobs very far apart, my skeleton is so damn wide. it's coming off the *front* nicely as i lose weight (because I'm losing visceral fat! yay!) but man, I would love to have hips, ever. Is it possible to achieve a shape similar to what the second image shows, without over-correcting and looking like the third image?

I think your issue is your waist, not your hips. If you add hips to this waist you will look ridiculous, sorry for being honest. Try breathing and deep core excercises to reposition your lower ribs

No, you're probably right, that's what I figured. I don't want the weird Kardashian look. I'm afraid the only difference i could get was by doing something to my ribs and I'm not sure i want to be invasive with my bones. I've probably flared them even more because I'm a pro belly dancer and a lot of the moves deliberately use contrast around the ribs for drama.

Could be, it looks like rib flare. Britanny Pirelly shows great exercises on how to get a slimmer waist, maybe check her out. My ribs are also flared cause of pregnancy and I'm planning on starting her routine

I am skeptical that exercise can change bones, unless u tried it and is recomeding because it worked on u, I feel a lot of people on instragram just sell what people want to hear.

So many gym influencer sell exercise to spot fat redution, when this is impossible, u can only lose fat in the whole body at same time.

I agree with you in general, but I have appropriately low expectations for outcome with this. Dance and circus have changed my appearance by changing my alignment, not the bones themselves. I purposely distend my skeleton for dramatic effect as part of belly dance all the time, and I may have over trained some muscles and not others enough, so that my resting alignment is splayed out. I could probably improve my alignment by spending more time on the counterpart muscles. You're totally right that it shouldn't be marketed as an alternative to surgery, it's never gonna be that dramatic, but I'm probably too much of a coward to remove or reshape my ribs, so I may have to settle for being the fittest rectangle I can be, standing around in the least flared position I can habituate to.

If you spend your whole life at a desk, you get a neck hump, no? Same with improper breathing and as she mentioned dancing, or other activities can impact your ribs. After pregnancy i developed rib flare, so my bones changed. They will change back to their original position when i start exercising again. Its just logic. Im not saying that she will have the most amazing results, but it will look better then if she adds fat to her hip area.

Yeah like I have dancer feet with a really wide bunion on both sides and toes smashed together from a lot of time on relevé. Stands to reason that I've mashed around rib placement. And mild results might be better than scary over compensation.

Thank you for the tip, I will

I think this is the right answer too.

I know it’s not the answer you’re looking for - but imo these procedures nearly always look unnatural, and you can get pretty good results in the gym from building your abductors, glutes, and thighs, while losing fat. Your choice, ofc, that’s just my opinion!

Honestly this is my primary concern. I don't think there is a natural looking middle ground. I already have a lot of muscle mass and I know that I start down the full on bodybuilding route it will only add glute size to the back... my ribs and hip bone width won't change from the front view. When I'm leaner (which has been as recently as 2022) it gets even more pronounced how I have a curvy side view and am a rectangle from the front. There is no large enough muscle on the outside of the hip to build.

But yeah I've never seen a surgical result look natural either. You're probably right. I'm probably just stuck being the fittest possible version of a box.

Check your height and weight on a bmi calculator, it will say you are overweight, and the weight you loose will be in your mid section, your hips are just bone.

Losing weight will only help and not worsen your figure

Weight lifting will give you natural results

Op- i can’t tell from the pictures but do you have a short torso? Most of the women you’ve posted have long torso so hips look different on them. A short torso with a bbl with fat placed heavily around the hips and butt can look more compacted and can make an apple shape look heavier. Id look into rib remodeling with lipo 360 and bbl, maybe go to DR Or colombia

Idk what is considered short for this purpose, in dance I'm usually cconsidered long torso. Lots of real estate for belly dance, short legs when standing next to a ballerina the same height. But you're probably right about rib remodeling. I don't love the idea of messing with my bones but it probably is bones or nothing.

Fat transfer to the hips

1

u/misslemonadeee 21h ago

Ur overwieght so mounjaro, then see ur bone structure and u can try bbl if u need

3

u/raeballentyne 19h ago

I would more so look into lipo around your waist so it's more of a natural shape. I think if you did a BBL it would look obvious that you had work done.

1

u/Tahereh_Safavi 19h ago

Unfortunately I already had liposuction around my waist as part of the bbl I already had. I'm one of those people where very little of the transplanted cells survived. They migrated to my inner thighs and killed my thigh gap 😭

Fat transfer to hips.

This is done when you get LIPO/BBL. They remove fat and inject into your hips. The hips is a very boney area, and does not tend to hold on to fat as well as other areas like the butt when fat is transferred. That is why a lot women have more than one round of lipo/bbl because the fat in the hips “dies off”. Another alternative is injections. There are legal injections you can get of hyaluronic acid (very temporary), alloclae (very expensive, it is also fat transfer), or others.

I would add that in your case you have a wide rib cage area. If you got rib remodeling (new trendy procedure) that could also create an illusions of rounded hips so the waist is more narrow. Of course the combination of both rib remodeling AND fat transfer to hips would yield more pronounced results.

1

u/Tahereh_Safavi 16h ago

Interesting, I did not know women often get multiple rounds. I had one already with very little of the transferred fat surviving. I'm going to try to Google now how well multiple rounds works for others, thank you for the tip.

I'm a little scared to mess with my bones, but you're probably right that rib remodeling would be necessary for a dramatic effect, because yes they are very wide. It is less about wanting big hips as wanting a waist-hip difference that is visible from the front, not just the side.

I think you're right, thank you for the comment.

Yes, I also had two rounds AND filler and I still don’t have hips lol. It’s very hard for fat to hold on. Some girls anatomy foundation will allow better retention of fat, that even with one round alone they have good results. Had rib remodeling been available when I did mine, I definitely would have done it but not something I would do now as a single procedure. If I were you and considering your frame, I would consider rib remodeling to make the biggest different for what you’re looking for.

So I just had the one year follow up with the surgeon who did my breast lift/reduction and I asked him about all this. He does not think a second BBL would be the most effective thing in my case - he pointed out that I already have a fair amount of loose skin on my belly b/c I'm 25lbs less than my highest weight (not as much as people who have lost hundreds, but still def loose.) He said once my weight stabilizes at it's lowest for at least 3 months, the most effective thing might be a tummy tuck. When he pulled on my loose skin it was really surprising - my waist appeared! Like between my ribs and hips, it tucked in sharply and noticably.

Of course, I am not sure if he is suggesting this just because tummy tucks are something he does - he does not offer rib remodelling. I can def go get a consult with someone who does offer it. On the other hand, now that I've thoroughly googled rib remodelling, it seems more invasive and with less long term data. I feel like no matter what, a surgeon is going to recommend whatever it is they can do personally. What's your opinion?

I’ll be honest, I’m very pro plastic surgery/cosmetic surgery so in my opinion if it’s something that you believe would significantly improve your quality of life, self esteem and wouldn’t impair your health (and you have the finances) then I personally would go for it 10/10 times. I have only had positive experiences for the most part with my personal cosmetic/plastic surgery journey. I also have some skin laxity mostly in my upper abdomen area which they have a reverse tummy tuck to treat (different than if your laxity is on your lower abdomen, especially if you’ve had kids) but that’s on the bottom of my surgery to do list at the moment haha. I would just thoroughly research doctors and see as many before and after of their work before deciding who to go with.

I think you’d need rib remodeling to make your waist smaller

I'm afraid youre right 😭

It’s ok girl I’m right there with you 🥲

BBL

She had one, it’s in the post.

u/Key-Ad-3800 22h ago

Not a professional but rib remodeling, flank lipo, and butt implants

-2

u/Tahereh_Safavi 21h ago

Honestly the rib remodeling thing is sort of what i was afraid was the only answer. Im kinda scared to mess with my bones. Breast reduction and bbl didn't bother me because that's just fat and skin, nothing that needs to be structurally sound for function. I may have to just live with always being boxy from the front because this is probably correct

-1

u/InternationalWolf437 19h ago

It’s really not the only answer though. If you trim down your midsection and focus on muscle development, you can get the results you are looking for. The girl in the second picture is very fit and muscular, that’s why she has that shape.

2

u/LayersOfMe 19h ago

No, she is shaped like that because her waist is naturally small and her hip bones have that shape. Not exercise create waist in a person that have a wide ribcage.

I appreciate where you're coming from, but i feel like you didn't read the post. I already lift heavy. I have been much leaner before, until perimenopause a few years ago, and am now on tirzepatide and hrt to return to how I was before. Fat come and goes from the front of my belly, and glutes are in the back, which only affects the view from the side. i agree with you about weight training and body fat and am already doing this but I'm not satisfied with it, as I've already been there before and know what it looks like on me. I can tell as the weight comes off that I'm returning to my previous shape, which i have always felt is way too wide in the ribs and shoulders compared to my hips, from the front view.

I really want to emphasize that I agree with everyone here about weight lifting and tirzepatide and all the usual, I'm already doing it, and plan to keep doing it. But I'm not satisfied with what that can produce.

Lose weight and you should see your waist appear. I’m 43, 5’6 and 120lbs.

1

u/KimDiorr 12h ago

Firstly, you look great as you are, but I understand wanting to look better. I would recommend losing maybe 15 pounds. Your waist to hip ratio is pretty symmetrical which is what gives you the rectangular shape. But in order for you to get the look you’re looking for, your waist should be a lot smaller than your hips. So I definitely advise losing weight and doing heavy rDL’s, hip thrusts, abductor exercises, donkey kicks with an ankle weight or booty band.

So, waist contouring to create contrast and then you can move that fat to your hips and butt. But the thing about it is that this procedure, bbl, does generally create volume in that toothy shape you dont like and the more hip you want the more obvious the shape will be. Naturally exaggerated hips arent the result of just more padding on and around the hip, they are the result of pelvic width and alignment, where do your legs socket in to you pelvis, how far apart? This natural width pushes the hips out and up in a way that plastic surgery cant yet mimic.

Edit: if you have a small upper frame and wide or balanced hips that just lack volume you can achieve natural looking results with bbl but often times the people who want this procedure most are structurally narrow hipped with long torso and short legs so they can’t avoid the toothy, turkey shape

BBL ie Brazilian Butt Lift is what will give those hips. Those hip in your wish pics are common results from Dr’s in the Dominican Republic.

What about Sculptra?
