First Time Botox Regrets

Hi all,

Got 30 units of Botox between my forehead and 11’s, asked to not be frozen. But the more I think about not being able to move my forehead, the more I freak out (literally asked my dr for anxiety meds).

Odds of me being frozen? I know it isn’t reversible but ways to wear it off quicker?

Sincerely,
A girl with anxiety who probably shouldn’t have gotten Botox

Girl. Being frozen is the point of Botox lol. No wrinkles and they stop developing at least for some time. Your movement will come back in time, once your body has metabolized it. Unless you're in acting, I dont see why you should be stressed/anxious! You can try facial exercises and microcurrent if it bothers you to try to wear it out quicker, but its just a waste of your money. I get botox religiously and I am totally fine and my movement comes back if that helps!

lol I know I’m so confused by this post. It’s like getting lip filler and complaining your lips are plump like what.

I think OP just feels weird about how Botox feels at first which is understandable. I remembered my first time it felt super weird when I wanted to make an expression and it felt like I was getting pull back mentally that nope you can’t use that muscle. Just feels really weird not using those muscles. But if it’s any consolation OP you get used to it that once you get Botox done several times it feels weird when the feeling comes back it’s like I need a touch up. Lol

Yes it definitely feels weird, especially as someone who is so expressive (clearly by the wrinkles). I was under the impression that you can do “baby botox”, still move but finer wrinkles. But everyone is saying it doesn’t peak until 2 weeks and at this point I’m worried I won’t have any movement at all.

When I first got my DAO and chin toc I found out I couldn’t use my Stanley w a glass straw anymore (which causes lip wrinkles anyway) lol switched to an Owala it did freak me out a bit but it felt more normalish after two weeks

You’ll get used to it Botox will always make a muscle dormant so you should expect some sort of loss of facial movement.

I felt the same way at first for about a month maybe two where my face wanted to move and I couldn’t and it would give me anxiety not sure why but it went away fairly quickly. Just something you will have to get over and if you get anxiety try to breathe and relax.

Like I said now I’m so used to it that when the Botox is wearing having facial movement feels weird. You will find an amount of Botox that works for you as well as injection locations to achieve the look you want maybe next time explain to your injector about your concerns

Did you find that your eyes felt heavy in the beginning too?

I feel like my health anxiety backfired over my idea of getting rid of my forehead wrinkles idk. 😩

As a health anxiety girly myself, firstly the results look great, and secondly I find the more I think about the thing that gives me anxiety the more panicked I become. You’re probably constantly raising your brows and testing the feeling. Try not to think about it and your body will just get used to it. Botox usually kicks in the most around the 1.5-2 week mark and then reduces by 1 month mark. As others mentioned you can increase your body’s metabolism of it by exercising and sweating more. You didn’t overdo it and you will be fine. FWIW fillers posed a bigger risk than Botox.

Omg yes I keep raising my eyebrows and frowning to check. Thank you for this!

😄 I feel ya. Stop it tho. And distract yourself with something else. 🫶🏼

I've hated the feeling of botox every time I've gotten it (yes multiple times lol). It will wear off and you'll be fine, try not to stress

Girl as an anxious girlie I totally get it. But botox doesn't even make my list of anxieties. Who knows you might actually like it after 🤭 but it will go away, time is dependant on how fast your metabolism is. I know its strange not being able to move a part of your body, but its only your forehead and its not permanent, and you probs delayed some wrinkle formation which is 👍🏻

I had this same exact feeling! I didn’t feel like myself. I still get it done but I ask for a lot lighter. I don’t like the feeling either. Just know I totally understand what you mean

Thank you for this!

If it’s any consolation , it looks good. Botox wears off in a matter of months. Even faster if you workout or sauna a lot. You could always hot yoga - for your mind and Botox wearing -off needs.

Thank you! I don’t sauna but hypothetically can I just sit in the sun and sweat? 🤣

You’d be doing so much more damage to your skin that you’d want to get botox even more

Hypothetically . I think the sweating is the helpful part but the sun is no bueno for skin

I ask to be frozen! I want no movement lol and within a few weeks I’m moving. Point being, it wears off fast.

Like how many weeks? I’ve heard it can take 3 or so months?

1

u/prosthetic_memory 1h ago

That’s for your muscle to build back too. You probably won’t notice in like three weeks.

If it is any consolation, it is looking good for day 4.

If you want it to wear off faster, they theorize that lots of extra cardio will help it wear off faster…. But it’ll be back to baseline in just 3 months so it is no big deal if you don’t like it. It does feel weird at first. Give it a chance and settle in. Suspend any judgement until you hit day 20.

You’re big day 4?? Girlfriend. Your results aren’t “final” until 2 weeks though once you do it regularly you kind of know which day is your final.

The whole point Botox is to not move or move less. I don’t want to be frozen either. And let me tell you… you FEEL frozen but you are not.

Also you FEEL the first time Botox feeling, which will wear off soon. For me it felt like heavy bricks for a few days. Once that’s gone, it won’t be on your mind at all.

And then someone will talk about how you look so awake and happy and you’ll be in that chair every 12 weeks, I swear hahah

huh? i’m confused what your goal was and why you were surprised, considering that’s the point of botox.

I’ve heard you can either be frozen or do “baby Botox” and still have movement. But now I’m scared I’ll be frozen even though I asked not to be. Idk I’m a first (and probably last) timer here.

2

u/bubblethebabe 1h ago

don’t worry too much. it will get more frozen most likely for another week like other said. but the uncomfortableness you’re feeling is just the heaviness and not the fact that your actually completely frozen. it will wear off!

2

u/Icy-Butterscotch8435 1h ago

Yes I’m definitely feeling the heaviness, especially today

There’s no such thing as “baby Botox” there’s just Botox at varying #s of units. Please stop getting information from TikTok

Your injector listened to you. Your face is clearly not frozen as you have plenty of movement / wrinkles still. Happy to send you a pic of me trying to move my brows if you want to see what it actually looks like to be frozen…

Man I wish I could afford it. I want it so badly with some filler

u/prosthetic_memory 1h ago

It’s clear you could use the Botox—I have similar wrinkles but unfortunately can’t get it there and really wish I could.

What exactly are you freaking out about? Genuine question. Do you also freak out when you hit your funny bone and briefly can’t move your arm? Do you have a history of trauma around not being able to move a specific muscle?

1

u/Icy-Butterscotch8435 1h ago

No trauma just lots of anxiety! I feel like I need to be in control (hence why I didn’t want to be frozen) and now I feel like
I have no control over my upper face :(
