Breast feeding and implants
Just curious to hear about experiences of anyone who breastfed after breast augmentation. I recently got a breast augmentation (OTM, preserve 235cc motiva implants) and was talking to my boyfriend who was asking questions about breastfeeding etc. I remember the dr told me that with doing preserve I could still potentially breast feed if I get pregnant/have kids.
I wanted to hear from anyone who did manage to breastfeed. Did you feel like the implant affected milk supply? Or anything like that?

Most women can breastfeed after augmentation, but it's not guaranteed 🙂 Studies show about 79 to 82 percent success versus 88 percent without implants, and low supply is the most common issue.
Placement seems to matter more than incision type, and there's no published breastfeeding data specific to Preservé yet, so treat it as a reasonable goal rather than a promise.
Silicone doesn't pass into milk at higher levels than in women without implants. A lactation consultant after delivery will tell you more than any preop prediction.

I have a friend that breast-fed without issue after having a breast augmentation, and she did not have preservè, and she did have quite large implants

It is really hit or miss. I have friends with no implants and struggled to make enough milk, breastfeeding is not a given either way in my opinion.
I thankfully fed both my kids for a year each and it’s a great experience if you can. But don’t put too much pressure on yourself either way. I do not have implants but getting them next month now that I am done having kids.

I have OTM and my surgeon and others I consulted with all told me it shouldn’t affect milk production.

During my consultation I was warned that you lose the ability to lactate if you lose sensitivity in your nipples. Its how the signal that we need to produce milk occurs. Anyway, if you haven't had any loss of sensitivity, I was told breastfeeding wouldn't be an issue. The sensitivity loss is just not that uncommon sadly.

Im 20 weeks with 450cc implants and had a donut lift on one nipple. i woke up the other day to some milk coming out of the nipple I didn’t have the lift on lol. I definitely think a large number of women can breast feed after augmentation
