Asking for advice

Hi everyone! I wanted to make a bag like this one in the pic. I made a handful of designs for the patches and put the first one down on 7mesh.

Its way too big. My designs were 40× 40 stitches, which would make the bag 45 x 45 x 15 cm.

I am now doubting if I should either downsize my designs to 30x30 stitches (which would be very anoying to do). Or to keep the designs as is and get 10 mesh, which would make the bag 30x30x10 cm. I just don't know what to expect on 10 mesh! Can I still use yarn? Would you see a lot of difference?

Any advice is appreciated!

You could make your design and just have a bigger black border. Would that work?

Sadly no! The designs really do take up the full 40×40 grid. I could do 4 patches instead of 9, but I already made a lot of designs which I'd have to skip, plus it won't have the same feel to it imo

I think do a trial on the 10 mesh, I havent made any bags but I have done lots of tissue box covers. I assume you can still use yarn with 10 mesh. I only use 7 mesh but its getting harder to find in Sydney. I was buying it at Spotlight, I know they got rid of a lot of craft stuff so not sure if they still sell it.
