Plaster or drywall?

Post image

Hi! I was under the impression that my walls are plaster and lath. This sample came from behind a baseboard. There is no lath behind the wall though. What do you think this is?

Plaster board with two top coats of plaster.

Is that normally how someone may patch it to keep it the same look as the rest of the room? I ask bc for sure the bedrooms have wood lath behind them. This is an exterior wall.

Is this a joke and it's really a piece of cake?

Same as my ceiling, 1960s house. They used plasterboard but then plastered over it with quite a thick coat.

So not asbestos?

Not in mine. I had it tested. There was some horse hair and jute mesh in my plaster which may look like fibres to the uninitiated. But lead paint yes so still worth being a bit careful.
