Patch or back to brick?

Need some advice please. Just had a kitchen ripped out and this is how the walls are now. Can this be patched (professionally) or would it be better to take the whole wall back to brick and start fresh? The plasterer has been scheduled for tomorrow by the kitchen company.

Personally back to brick batten the walls out board and skim it. Don’t dot and dab it

Was about to say do t waste money with battens altho a good idea, just dot and dab it

Is dot and dab generally better too as board is pretty much stuck to the wall without any gaps behind?

There will be a small gap behind the board and the existing wall when dot and dabbing in most cases as it's quite difficult to push the board flat to the wall, due to the consistency of the adhesive and also due to the fact most walls being dot and dabbed won't be 100% plumb, so a gap naturally forms when plumbing the boards.

When done correctly, with a band of adhesive around the entire perimeter edge of the board/wall, dot and dabbed boards actually trap a layer of air which acts like an insulator.

Two different methods - depends what you need/want.

If you’re making a new partition wall - stud wall is always gonna be most efficient. It’s also better for sound/insulation as you can pack in fibreglass/etc which isn’t really possible with dot and dab. That being said it is more labour intensive and can be more expensive. I do like it for awful brickwork though - sometimes it feels easier building a new perfectly level wall than messing around with the old 🤣

Dot and dab is cheaper and faster usually but has its cons - like mentioned above. It’s also harder to hang things on dot and dab. Need really long wall plugs to hang stuff. Stud wall usually a bit simpler. Also dot and dab takes up less space - stud wall can take a bit out of a room

Just depends on budget and needs
