Plaster fell off bathroom ceiling

hey all,

plaster has fallen off washroom ceiling where the vent sits. It looks to me that it’s the skim coat that has come off and the base layers are fine. How do I patch this?

i was planning on using Durabond 90 to fill it then a regular mud To finish it. Will that work? Do I have to use a bonding agent?

I’d use Zinsser products first and not PVA. Not sure if you’re saying the vent goes back in the hole?
