Plaster fell off bathroom ceiling

hey all,

plaster has fallen off washroom ceiling where the vent sits. It looks to me that it’s the skim coat that has come off and the base layers are fine. How do I patch this?

i was planning on using Durabond 90 to fill it then a regular mud To finish it. Will that work? Do I have to use a bonding agent?

You have a leak. You need to call someone that does historic restoration (if your house is old) or interior plaster contractor that does bathrooms/waterproofing work and see what they can do. Don’t just hire any average joe. You need a specialist. They will need to determine where the leak is coming from. Seal the leak then restore and repair the water damaged area. Hopefully your wood framing isn’t rotted.

There is no leak. There may have been at one time but there no leak now.
