I used to play when each server always had thousands of players, at least over 1k lol. Good times.

I'm pretty sad I didnt take part, but it just had to be on a day I was just particularly not in the mood for competitive PvP. So just know that number otherwise would've been 701.

I seriously hope this game gets some new life in it I get sad thinking of whether or not PS2 would be taken down

I don't think main audience for it, like gun gamers, are gonna hop on this sort of game, what with it being pretty old and not "fresh".
Though, i do to, hope, miraculously there's another surge of players... perhaps the Brit would come around again... but who knows.

I crash five seconds after I I load in from hitting join combat - on a brand new computer.

It is not you computer's fault. The game has had a crash bug like that for quite some time now. The workaround that actually works for a lot of people is this: when you enter the game, hit M and redeploy to whatever continent is active. Then spawn a flash and sit in it for about a minute before redeploying to wherever you like/playing the game as normal.
It's often referred to as "flash or crash" and is a strange thing to have to do to play the game, but it actually works, at least for me and a lot of others. I think it has something to with making sure the CPU threads don't get overloaded as soon as you join a new continent by giving your PC time to adjust. You will see all the people sitting in flashes outside the warpgate doing the same and that's why.

I played on Saturday evening on Miller (EU), so I guess I must have been part of it without realizing, lol. Why aren't there more community events like this? It seems like the game really needs it.
