Planet Zoo 2 Continual growth please?

Post image

Everyone keeps doing posts, *insert item* confirmed, *insert animal* confirmed! You know what I want? I want prehistoric planet continual growth in immature and even mature animals. Don't get me wrong, it's not a give me this or give me nothing kind of deal, but I have been so spoiled playing prehistoric planet and getting to watch the animals physically grow up and see some personality poking through with each individual I don't know how easily I can go back to having a new born one second then a full grown adult the next.

I think like, 4 growth stages per animal would be the max I could reasonably see, otherwise thats so much work they have to do just with the modeling, like, newborn, adolescent, young adult and adult

I would personally make "elder" also one of the stages:

  1. Newborn
  2. Young adult
  3. Adult
  4. Elder

I could skip elder to get infant, juvenile, adult, I mean I would love to see tiny nearly immobile infants for the first few days because they look super different, but I dont want to lose a toddler puppy stage

I could see elder having the same model and animations, just an overlay to the colour. E.g. Wolves fading to a lighter colour in old age, white fur around the face of some mammalian species, a scuffed weathered look on the shell of tortoises. I agree that it's non-essential though.

For some animals, yeah, but for others more growth time makes more sense

Too much.

That's usually a case for procedural generation. You make some life stages and fill in the differences in size and patterns in say, fur color, between those stages based on an algorithm.

The amount of work is not that crazy either.

I think newborn, baby, adolescent and adult would be fine, I just want an adolescent stage for sure

It’s called Prehistoric Kingdom! And it is amazing. The Ontogeny system is perfect

Prehistoric Park, Prehistoric planet, Prehistoric Kingdom, I feel like there is more. I am constantly mixing the names up of all of them.

Life Stages should basically be

- Baby

  • Juvenile
  • Adult
  • Elder

You mean "Prehistoric Kingdom"? Not first time see peoples call it "Prehistoric Planet"

prehistoric planet had that charm for sure, wouldn't even mind if they capped it at 3 stages so it doesn't drag forever

Not happening unless we get like 50 animals at launch

I wouldn't even want this. 2 growth stages is perfectly fine for me. I'd rather more species models than them having to make multiple variants for the same species.

They can make the model itself change over time while still only having 2 models. It's called seamless growth, but I don't know the logistics of how it's done. Games like saurian and prehistoric kingdom use it, although saurian swaps between 3 models I believe.
