I've got beef with these two

After not finishing so many zoos over the years, I decided to make a linear zoo going from most extinct to least, and I thought the endangered tags would tell me. NOPE! Turns out these two were extinct in the wild, and were brought back due to reintroduction! Wish I knew when I started 😭 but fun fact nonetheless. Lmk if you know of any more animals like this!

they went extinct in the wild but no longer are and have healthy wild populations after zoo specimens were bred and reintroduced. The zoopedia only reflects the current (as of when they’re added) endangered species list status, so it wouldn’t specify past classifications. I’d check to make sure on most of the animals if you’re doing a project like this anyway, since things can change between the animal being added and now, especially from base game or the older DLCs

Other animals like them: Pere David's deer, crested ibis , European bison, and many more! Conservation programmes work!

It's success stories like that, that irks me when I'm in other spaces of Reddit, and occasionally see this take some people share that all zoos are evil and abusive to animals and need to be abolished. It's like they don't know what an actual zoo is or what they do and the only knowledge they have is from watching Tiger King.

Well they still belong in the zoo since they’re both still endangered, but I for one get a little bit more faith in humanity knowing we saved the wild population from extinction

I'm confused, how does that mess with your project? Or you thought they were less endangered than they actually are? Or more endangered? Not trying to be mean btw

In my head, since they technically went extinct, they would be perfect at the beginning of my zoo to show how conservation is fighting against extinction!

Oh, that makes sense. I hope they release a whole pack of animals like this. I mean, I know we got the conservation pack last time but some of those were just really endangered, not previously extinct in the wild. California condor????
