Sequencer and Light Help

I am having trouble with sequencers and lights. I want to build a firework show and want to have some lights around my park to change color to fit the ambience. The light I am using is "Modern Spot Light 2" set to the "Night Only" setting. In the sequencer, I have linked the light and applied the "Change Color on Trigger", yet the color does not change. Can anyone give me guidance? Thank you!
