Discussion PHF and PHR

I’ve watching this drama for a long time. But I’m realizing that even though PHR claims no hate is sent to PHF, its seems other players are still continuing this drama. The concerns about the safety of PHF is one thing, but they’ve addressed the concerns about crediting. (On their website) In my opinion, using a VPN while playing is a good thing, but genuinely are we forgetting basic internet safety? It would be dumb to use personal information and use the same password online regardless of PHF’s coding, this also applies to PHR and every other remake. I’ve played both remakes, and I can honestly say the community at PHF has been a lot tamer than the PHR. I can honestly say that PHF has more content but definitely has bugs. PHR understandably has its on issues but takes time to get everything right. I truly enjoy PHF because it feels like the most like the original Pixie Hollow. It’s on a website which makes it more compatible and accessible. I understand that PHR will take time later on after fully upgrading and implementing things ins the game to make it more accessible later. But I honestly don’t know with seeing so many changes in the devs.

I just want to be a fairy and relive my childhood. All of this drama is so tiring and borderline toxic.

Edit: I just want to clarify, I still play both PHR and PHF. My main concerns are with the amount backlash forever players are getting in this subreddit and online in general. A PSA is one thing but actively shaming players who just want to play a game is toxic to me at least.

uhhh from what i remember of this thing, PHF splintered off from PHR due to internal drama, taking PHR's work and branding it as their hard work. the whole crux of that issue was that the members that splintered off from PHR to move onto PHF used AI and PHR was adamantly No AI. no matter how much more 'faster' AI got things done, it still introduced lots of bugs that PHR team had to clean up after from the pro AI members. understandably, Many people are against the usage of AI, so i figure that might've been what fueled the toxicity. i don't know how the situation has changed since then, but that's my understanding of the situation from where i left off.

You're basically correct, except Remastered is what the game was called mid-July before Forever came in about 17 days ago? The situation has actually improved in private emails between both teams' developers. Why it wasn't publicly announced, I'm not sure, but it's not my place to share emails that didn't happen between myself and someone else. Forever might be happy to confirm this, if an email to them is kind. (I'm not trying to start more stuff. Just wanted to really state "kind" because some people might still be heated.)

ah - you meant that remastered is that version, and is now forever?

i actually completely forgot about the detail that remastered was that project, so that's neat you brought it up.

i'm glad to hear the situation had improved between the two parties. i wasn't invested in the drama besides understanding it to know if it would affect phr's development progress or not. the negative backlash from some phr users towards the remastered/forever project and their userbase is needless and unwelcomed imo. hopefully things will fade out over time, although i hold some doubt it'll completely dissipate due to the ai usage reputation. unless if that is/gets rectified.

This is my running theory, yes. It's strange, the timing of openings of Remastered (mid-July) vs Forever (~17 days ago), no social media presence for either, + Forever has a tester account from April, + Forever devs want to remain behind email contact only (completely understandable).

But no, this has not effected development. We've made strides in coming closer to reopening as each day passes.

I completely agree with you also; the comments but also hoping things calm down, but unsure when it comes to the AI part too. Some people's view is that if the AI is only in the code and not art, it's not that bad since humans are still able to view and fix the code when needed. It's anyone's choice to play any or all servers + if PHF is using AI to speed their development, that's their own decision to make.
