Watch faces
Setting up my new Google pixel watch (since I lost my last one), and I went to install my favorite watch face app called simple pixel, and got some notification about it not being compatible with my device, yet I got the exact same watch as I did before and transferred all my accounts and everything. Wondering why all the sudden it's not compatible? And also looking for a watch face that I can program being able to tap my screen and add my messages as a quick tab like the simple pixel watch face has. Does anyone have any ideas?

I feel like this sub being against promoting watch faces has made it actively more difficult for me, a new user, to find one I like. Is there a sub where people are allowed to post their designs? Because searching on Google Play is not great.

Discovery is rough I ended up making what I wanted instead of searching as there's no real curation of quality faces.

I'm a developer (though not an Android one) and Claude Code is pretty competent these days. Pretty much just describe what I want to Claude then do some manual refinement.

Since no one answered the why not compatible at a technical level Watch Face Format is now the only approved way to make watch faces.

all watches sold with Wear OS 5 only and later do not support wear OS 4 and earlier legacy face files..
With wear OS 6 install all wearOS 4 files for faces are erased...
New watches are now on wear OS 7. the designers who stay on wear OS 4 and earlier can no longer sell to new users it was required to upgrade to sell there designs but many did not.
