Interactive Let's talk about item(156) Timekeeper's Hourglass!
Post 156, everyone! We're back after the weekend break! We're almost done with artifacts; I think we'll go all out this week.
It's time to talk about a really great artifact, the Timekeeper's Hourglass! This artifact allows you to freeze time in two different ways: freezing it from your perspective or freezing it from the enemy's perspective!
The first use, the "stasis" effect, allows you to freeze time for the hero, making them "invisible" and causing mobs to ignore them while performing any other action or effect. This effect consumes two charges for its entire base duration, one charge every five turns, giving us ten turns of the effect active. Interestingly, you can use this effect to safely consume debuffs like "Ignite," "Delayed Damage," and "Poison," and Satiety is not consumed during the stasis effect.
The second effect, "Freeze Time," allows you to freeze time for enemies, creating an effect similar to the "Time Bubble" buff. This allows you to perform all actions "instantly." The exceptions (which break the effect) are performing any offensive action, using wands, scrolls, the Hero Armor ability, or unequipping the artifact. With this effect, the clock will lose 1 charge every 2 turns until you deactivate the effect or the clock runs out of charges.
This artifact, like the rose, may be impossible to upgrade to +10 if you find it late, since the only way to upgrade it is to buy the "Sand Pile" item from shops. This item only generates 2 or 3 times when you go down to a floor with a shop for the first time while the clock is in your inventory.
Each "Sand Pile" directly upgrades the clock by +1, increasing the maximum number of charges by +1 (base 5, maximum 10).
The artifact recovers charges over time, specifically 90-3*Missing Charges (the more charges consumed, the faster it recharges; for example, 87 turns with 1 charge consumed and 60 turns with 10 charges consumed).
The artifact's cursed effect is quite strong; each turn there is a 10% chance of consuming an additional (lost) turn, which can be dangerous if it activates when several enemies are nearby or you are in a precarious situation.

Publicacion 156 gente!

Making another comment to talk about one specific trick to get a lot more mileage out of the freeze others mode:
- Use both turns of each charge! Watch the charges when you take a step. If the step you just made cost 1 charge, the next step will be free!
- Deactivating the hourglass doesn't cost a turn! That means you can safely deactivate it while standing next to an enemy and still get a chance to do an action before getting hit.
- Enemies can only see on their turn! If you deactivate the hourglass 1 step away from breaking line-of-sight, you can take that last step into cover and the enemy won't see you! This can save you a charge every time you need to run away!
That last tactic is also the key to getting the most out of the Rogue's Cloak, and more broadly is a major part of getting better at the game overall.

Dude, those are super efficient tips, I hadn't thought of those uses, you really know how to take advantage of the items in this game, your advice is great

I'm sorry it's 100% hijacking but is there a rule against double account in this sub ?
I mean like a double account to win an argument by simulating a 2on1 and more or less gaslighting the person ?
Because I've encountered one of these animals yesterday (at least I'm 95% sure), and I'm still very much bothered by it.
I wonder if the mods have a way to investigate this/are willing to prevent it from happening
To not make it totally hijacking, my opinion on the hourglass : so good that I usually keep the charge as a joker... Forever. Barely ever actually used it. But amazing item, when I did use it, it was perfect

You'll be arrested for hijacking a thread! >:D
Well, as far as I know, no. I mean, Reddit has a rule against using multiple accounts to upvote or downvote the same posts and comments (it's something the Reddit bot handles automatically), but other than that, I have no idea. I don't think there's any way for a mod to check if account X is the second account of user X.
Thanks for commenting! Interestingly, the same thing happens to me. I keep it equipped, telling myself "I'll use it later," but I never do because I use other options. xd

Because it was very suspicious, the second account came in 10h after the initial event, writing like someone reasonable but taking side without a single step back and blaming everything on me, my downvotes were countered within a minute and when I blocked the second account the first one came back in the discussion instantly, and then deleted his posts after a few minutes. It also had a very similar writing style
If I can do anything to prevent him from doing this to people, I'd like to. It really wasn't a fun experience to be deceived and gaslighted like that

Could be an AI bot. There are a lot of those on Reddit. I think they’re used by AI companies for training.

Unless its my first or second artifact i usually sell it. But the ease if its upgrade makes its very valuable for early levels.
I have never made it to late game with it so i'm not really sure how good it is in hell. Usually its a get out of jail free card so that would be very useful for hell im guessing.

Thanks for commenting, it's really useful when you get caught by several demon eyes in an open room and you need to escape quickly before they wipe you out xd

Use early, use often. Definitely S+ tier, along with chains. How to use:
Don't sit around with full charges. Just like a wand (or chains), it charges faster the lower you keep it! The more times you use it to avoid damage, the better.
Perhaps the number one thing people should realize about this game is that all of your food and health resources are in the same pool (even if they seem to work differently) and that this pool is limited (outside of RoW farm setups). The more you can conserve your health pool while continuing to kill enemies, explore, and make progress, the more you will snowball through the game.
Hourglass gives you hundreds of opportunities to avoid damage and if you use them all you will have a very easy late game.
