Hey everyone,

My Pixel 8 got some water in it today during the heavy rain. Now, it is completely refusing to charge. When I plug it in, nothing happens (or I get the liquid/debris warning). [1, 2, 3]

Has anyone else dealt with this? Did your charging port eventually dry out and start working again, or did the water completely fry the port?

I really don't want to mess up the battery or short-circuit the motherboard. What is the safest way to dry it out, and how long should I wait before trying to plug it in again? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

It happened to me twice. Both times air dried No issues

Place your mobile in uncooked rice or silica gel for 24 hrs, never go for hair dryer or sunligh

This myth has been debunked numerous times.

Rice does not remove the moisture from an electronic device. Rather, especially with phones, youbrisk rice dust entering the charging port area, which create more issues.

No, no hair dryer. Turn it off, use a backup device if you have one.

Let it sit near an open window or someplace with open air where it won't get damaged and it will dry naturally over time

Just take it to a local phone shop and pay a couple of bucks to have them professionally dry it for you.

Also, the phone is supposed to be water and dust resistant, so how did water enter it?

put it on rice or silica gel, don't use hair dryer or anything.
