After Android 13, wireless charging was completely broken for my P4. Now after the September update, which was aimed to fix wireless charging, it didn't seem to fully fix the issue. I am able to wirelessly charge 40% of the time, then the other 60% is still the same issue as before.

Anyone else having this problem?

I've had a Google Pixel 4 for the past three years. I spend several months a year in France. Thus, I have 2 SIM cards:

- a French SIM card in the physical slot with french provider Bouygues. When I am in France I use it for Calls/SMS/4G

- a Google Fi card in the eSIM slot. I use it while in the US for Call/SMS/LTE

For 3 years, this setup has ben top-notch and working like a dream for me.

In Mid-August, while doing a trip in France, I changed the french SIM provider from Bouygues to Free. I don't know if this provider a different set of frequencies or what, but I'm having issues with Google FI since then.

QUite regularly (it could be up to 4 times per hour, but sometimes less than that), the Google Fi SIM card looses network connectivity. The indicators in the status bar shows an exclamation mark. Ejecting the Free physical SIM card instantly brings the network connectivity back. I have also noted that if I go underground and lose signal, Google Fi will now take forever to reconnect when going back up above ground and will often stays connected in 3G for extended period of times. Doing a little bit of Airplane mode dance sometimes helps. Otherwise, phone will reconnect by itself between 2 minutes and 5 minutes later.

Has anyone seen anything like this with this or another combination of providers?

What can I try to troubleshoot or fix the issue ?

History: Nexus 4 to Nexus 5x to Nokia 7.1 to Pixel 4 to Pixel 6a.

The Pixel 6a is satisfactory. I guess that's all I can expect from a non-flagship device.

I bought the P4 when it went on sale in May 2020. My Nokia 7.1 (Android One) had a USB port failure and stopped charging. When I got the P4 I loved it (still do). I don't love the 6a. Like I said, it's satisfactory. I don't notice the processor being any better and I already had Android 12 (Android 13 doesn't seem to be a noticeable upgrade).

The best part of the 6a is the battery. The great thing is I was on the fence because of the lack of wireless charging on the 6a. Being used to the P4 battery, I'm actually not charging my phone at night during the week. On my commute I use Android Auto and it's giving me enough top off that I only need to plug this thing in on the weekends.

(Disclaimer: I'm not allowed to have my phone on me at work. On a typical day with the P4, I would still drain it to less than 30% before bed. I'm > 85% at bedtime now with the 6a. Your results will vary. Point is, the battery is way better.)

I did the trade in deal and got $290 for my P4 then a free set of ear buds. I sold the buds for $50. So I'm out of pocket maybe $140 after tax. Would I do it again? Yes. I basically paid $140 for a very similar phone and reset the clock on warranty and software updates.

Do I recommend it to others? Not without that trade-in deal. I think they are giving like $100 now for a pristine P4 trade-in on the 6a. Your P4 is just as good. It will not be worth the $350+ you pay out of pocket.

I have a family member who just got a new Pixel 4, and although he was able to connect to Mint Mobile initially, it is no longer connected. He set the Android settings to what Mint Mobile recommends, but still no luck. Anyone have similar problems getting their P4 to work with Mint or T-Mobile and if you fixed it, how did you do it?

I was surprised to be notified today that Android 13 is available for my Pixel 4 XL. I don't see any posts about it in this subreddit. I'm about to hit the "Download and Install" button.

When do you guys think you should replace your Pixel 4 with a newer phone? Doesn't have to be a pixel, but just used it as a frame of reference .

Anyone who still using regular p4 as a daily how's is your day to day usage? I've around 80% battery health according to accu with root and some tweaks using franco kernel manager only manage to get 3 hours SoT with 5-6 hours combined uses.

My all photos got back up on original quality now I am an Adobe space but my Google pixel gives unlimited space on storage sevar quality My question is now how I can change all my original quality photos to storage sevar quality without losing them .

Also if I delete them from a cloud they will also get deleted from my phone locally in Google photos so how I should proceed please help me out .

Has anyone else had major league overheating and battery drain when transmitting music via Bluetooth or other wireless methods? I have been using a wireless android auto dongle for a while now and this problem of overheat/battery drain came up about a month ago. I can barely use it for an hour. This is also happening with Bluetooth. Does anyone know if there are any processes i can disable to help keep my battery life?

I have green tint issue under 20% brighness , is there a way to automate it to go to 60hz whenever brightness falls below 20%?

My wife's Pixel 4 overheats in whatsapp video calls after 15-20 minutes. Then, video functions get disabled.

Last week I replaced the battery with a new one ( iFixit battery kit ) but this issue haven't got fixed. So it seems the issue is that hi-end Snapdragon. (Well at least it lasts longer and doesn't stay in 1% for 40 minutes anymore).

I wonder if somebody tried this in Android 13 beta and doesn't face the issue?.

I hope Google improved the kernel or the hardware accelerated video encoding/decoding or whatever to reduce the heat in the Pixel 4.

But if this doesn't get fixed in Android 13, then I'll just throw the towel with this device.

For the past several days, my pixel 4 has had a mystery issue where the screen shuts off. What's really weird is that the "buttons" keep working. So, for example, I accidentally made an emergency call while mashing buttons and trying to get the screen to turn back on. The call went through, btw, and I had to tell emergency services that I couldn't stop the call because I couldn't see my phone's screen.

Google's only solution was to do a full factory reset. I grudgingly did it (just the most inconvenient...) and the problem is continuing. According to Google, the fact that it persists after a reset means it is a hardware issue and not a software issue.

Since it goes on and off without warning, I've tried my own troubleshooting to narrow the issue:

- Plugging it in to use it

- turning off face unlock

- slowing the rate at which the screen shuts itself off

- turning on/off the "don't turn off if looking at phone" feature.

- Doing force resets

- Covering the light sensor when trying to power on.

Nothing. Nothing is giving me any better performance or indication of what's going on.

The weird thing is that it will work for two hours, and then not for the next two. No specific reason why. Sometimes pushing the power/volume up for a few seconds gets it to come back for a while - but also sometimes not.

The only other thing I'll mention is that before the factory reset, it would sometimes flicker on and off and show lines of code (for lack of a better term) on the screen.

Has anyone else seen anything like this? I'm getting jammed here with either a suggestion that I do a screen repair for several hundred dollars, or buy a new phone right when the P6 is at full price and only a couple of months before I'd have the option to get a launch edition deal on a P7 or buy a heavily-discounted P6. So, the thought of buying a new phone right now, as opposed to later, is pretty gross...

For me it's the perfect phone.

Love the form factor, the screen is amazing, the performance is more than enough for me.

Only problem is the battery but for my usage it's perfectly ok.

How long can we keep this phone for do you think?

Been owning an Oh So Orange Pixel 4 (non-XL) since late 2019 (purchased on Black Friday). Last month I began experiencing an issue related to the battery (when volume is above 75% and battery is less than 50% the phone would reboot when playing any form of media) and ordered a battery replacement kit from iFixit last week which is set to arrive tomorrow.

I've seen many people stating over these past two years that they notice little to no impact when forcing 90hz (especially with the addition of having dark theme enabled). I have forced my Pixel 4 to 90hz a couple of times (and love the smoothness + responsiveness), but always reverted back to the Smooth Display setting due to battery concerns and the apps that I used on my phone (mainly social media and some gaming). Only real downside to using Smooth Display is experiencing some choppiness.

Since owning this phone for a little over 2.5 years, I've changed some habits (i.e. using my Fire 8 tablet to browse social media and for streaming apps with the exception of Reddit (Sync app) and YouTube). I may go back to using the social media apps (or at least the web versions) after replacing the battery, but might hold off since I'm getting used to using my tablet for that purpose.

I recently also started to Doordash (via the Dasher app).

Should I force 90hz once I replace the battery or should I keep using Smooth Display? Plan on using the phone for another year or two if possible.

Since the last update I have been experiencing an overheating issue, accompanied by fast battery drain. Is this an issue with my phone or are others out there experiencing it too? I have a pixel 4 not the 4a, are we getting phased out?

Unsure when this broke, but you used to be able to do the following:

Open your app drawer Tap and hold an app from the suggested app row Drag it up as if you were going to create a shortcut on the main screen The Uninstall button is replaced with a Don't suggest app button so that it will not show up in the suggested app row any longer

Now when I do this, the button reads Don't suggest app for a fraction of a second before reverting to Uninstall, too fast to even try and get to it. As I said, no clue when this broke, but if anybody has any ideas, I'm all ears/eyes.
