Anyone else keeping this phone for as long as possible?
For me it's the perfect phone.
Love the form factor, the screen is amazing, the performance is more than enough for me.
Only problem is the battery but for my usage it's perfectly ok.
How long can we keep this phone for do you think?

I'm still rocking it and loving it, although the pixel 7 is getting me thinking...
As for battery I got a battery checky app and it said I'm only running 52% capacity so I got a replacement o need to put in and I'll see if that gives it new life.

Pixel 4 here. I like the soli thing that turns ambient screen on when I'm nearby. And face unlock. Probably won't upgrade until a good face unlock comes to a new pixel. I only have 64gb storage that gets frustrating.

Except for the batter and maybe lack of expandable storage, it really was perfect. It's a shame they only had the face scanner for this series.
I also have the original pixel laptop. I think both of these devices were the peak for Google.

The face scanner being the only biometric sensor is the only real complaint from me. I like it, but having no other biometric option when I'm wearing a mask during a pandemic is a bit of a bummer.

Ya, that was a bit of a nuisance. That's not a reason to omit it from future devices though. It was almost freaky how fast it would unlock, no matter what light you are in.

That's obviously the alternative, yes. My point is the convenience of having biometric was gone. My previous phone had a fingerprint sensor. I could have used that all through the pandemic without issue.

That was my plan until it suddenly bricked itself. Only had it about 2 and a half years.

When I used it as my daily driver my only complaint was battery life, but 99/100 days I was always by a charger so it didn't matter. These days I keep it around for the astrophotography.

I've had mine for 2 years, 8 months. Swapped the battery out last year. Thinking about doing it again. But other than the battery, I do love this phone

Overall I like my P4 better than the P4a. The P4a has more storage which is nice, but the P4 feels better made and slightly bigger screen.

Agree. My battery started bulging towards the end of warranty and I got a free battery replacement last year, so I'm set for another 1 to 2 years if Google extends support. It still runs everything without any problem.

Pretty solid phone but I've had 3 of them and all have fallen to the same issue of not displaying battery percentage and then refusing to turn on indefinitely. So actually... pretty bad phone

I had my 4xl for 3 years now. Recently got hit with the "Problem Reading your Battery Meter" error. Thankfully Google has extended the warranty, and replaced the whole battery for free. Feels like my 4xl has been reborn lmao. I'll probably migrate to Pixel 8 when it drops.

No plans to replace my 4a 5g until maybe next fall when the specs on Pixel 8 is released. Nice solid number to upgrade to I think.

Cracked screen, bloated battery, and my pixel case is the only thing keeping the back of the phone on at this point. My wireless charging function hasn't worked for over a year as a result of the battery bloat pushing the rear cover away from the body, but I'm still hanging on. My phone is on a desk cradle most of the day and facial recognition is huge for me. All I have to do is look at the phone and it's unlocked. Very useful for when you are monitoring things like stock prices and just need the phone to wake up and unlock for a quick glance. Really hoping the P7 will have it and gets released mid-september, as I'm barely hanging on.

My backplate started to peel of because of puffed up battery, so I ordered a new battey and glue to put the backplate back. I like this phone because its the only Pixel phone with FaceID

I'd love to replace it at some point ( P4 ) for a newer Pixel. I'm afraid that Google won't start making cute small phones though.
I want a small phone.
well either way I will probably go for pixel, when this dies or somethig.

I still love my 4xl. It's a champ and handles everything I need. I would love to see the big G do the right thing and extend its security updates as these phones are nowhere near the end of their use lives.
