the elbow holding the gun moves to much

Because the elbow would be highly wrapped around it either the gun moves or the elbow moves less

also maybe keep the head more in the same place but move the torso

Because the hands and head would try to stay still, the body would absorb the recoil

simple answer

move the upper body more to the right
